Richton Cashier Takes own Life
John MacDonald Will Be Buried In Bay Minette
Richton, Miss., May 7. John MacDonald, cashier of the Bank
of Richton, and prominent in business circles of this community, was found
lifeless in the bank about 7 o'clock last night with two bullet holes
through his hear. A revolver with two of its chambers empty was found
near him. A nervous breakdown and ill health for several weeks is advanced
as the reason for the deed.
Passersby and clerks in stores near the banks heard the shots about 5:30. Little if any investigation was made or at least, nothing came of the investigation until two hours later when Mr. MacDonald's body was found in the bank.
He was between 28 and 30 years old and is survived by a widow and one child. His home was in Bay Minette, Ala., and he came to Richton about two years ago. The body will be take to Bay Minette for burial.
