- James Herman Faulkner, Sr.
- Mr. Faulkner was born on March 1, 1916, in Lamar County, AL, and
died August 22, 2008 in Bay Minette, AL. He served in the U. S. Army
Air Corps in World War II. He was in the Alabama Senate from 1950-1954.
Mr. Faulkner served as mayor of the city of Bay Minette from 1941-43.
He was owner of the Baldwin Times newspaper and a number of newspapers
in Alabama and Georgia. Faulkner State Community College is named in
his honor. In 1985, Alabama Christian College was renamed Faulkner University.
James H. Faulkner was a member of the Church of Christ. (see also the

- Charles Hall
- Mr. Hall was born September 1, 1854 in the community of Montpelier,
near present-day Blackshear. His parents were Young Charles Hall and
Cornelia (Earle) Hall. He married Mattie Jernigan on November 19, 1878.
Mr. Hall was a lawyer, a Baptist, and a member of the Freemasons and
the Knights of Pythias. Mr. Hall served as the Circuit Court Clerk of
Baldwin County from 1886 unitl 1892 and probate jusge from 1892 until

- George Robinson Swift
- Mr. Swift was born in Baldwin County on December 19, 1887 and died
in New Orleans Parish, LA on September 10, 1972. He was a member of
the Alabama House of Representaatives from 1931-35, a member of the
Alabama Senate from 1935-39, a U. S. Senator from Alabama in 1946, and
a member of the Alabama Senate again from 1947-1951. He is buried at
the Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore, AL.(1)
