"Will Enlarge the City Cemetery
The City Fathers have purchased of Mr. B. R. Pileher, five acres of ground, for the purpose of enlarging the city cemetery. A portion of this strip, lying on the West side has been used for several years as a burying ground, and there are quite a number buried there. The five acres extend around and adjoin the old cemetery, on the North side also. Mr. Jim Grant, chairman of the Cemetery committee, informs us that the trade for this additional ground will be consummated today. He also states that the whole plot will be put under one fence, and that they have now a force of hands at work cleaning up the grounds and beautifying the cemetery lots as much as possible, with such funds as they have at hand.  We are glad to hear this and to learn that our city of the dead will be better cared for in future."  The Dothan Eagle, December 1, 1908
