Volunteers Dedicated to Free Genealogy

My name is Christina and as your Jefferson County, Alabama host I try to post as much data online as possible in order to make it freely available to all.  We gratefully accept contributions of raw data such as census information, marriage, birth, death record, obituaries, county histories, biographies, old newspaper items - anything that would help someone build their family tree!!

Feel free to
email me with your contributions  - every little bit helps.

If you have the desire to help transcribe genealogical  data and place it online for the free use of all researchers, contact
Kim to become a host. Volunteer Information is available here

WE REGRET THAT WE ARE UNABLE TO DO PERSONAL RESEARCH FOR YOU.

Jefferson County was established on December 13, 1819 by the Alabama legislature. It was named in honor of Thomas Jefferson. The county is located in the north-central portion of the state, on the southern extension of the Appalachians, in the center of the iron, coal and limestone belt of the South. Jefferson County is bordered by Blounty, Bibb, St. Clair, Shelby, Tuscaloosa, and Walker counties.   It encompasses 1,119 square miles. The county seat was at Carrollsville from 1819-21, at Elyton from 1821-73, and since 1873 has been at Birmingham, which was named for England's iron and steel center in Warwickshire. -Wikipedia
