ANDERSON, Calvin Price, teacher and legislator, was born November 7, 1875, at Cloverdale. near Florence, Lauderdale County; son of John A. and Marguerite (Anderson) Anderson, of Cloverdale. He was educated in the common schools of his county, at the State
normal college, Florence, graduating from advanced course in pedagogy, 1896. Engaged in teaching, August, 1896; representative in legislature,
1900; author of bill appropriating $10,000, for repairs and enlargement of the Normal college, Florence, approved December, 1900; tax commissioner for Lauderdale,
1901. He has since the expiration of that official service pursued the profession of teaching in Lauderdale and Madison Counties. He is a Democrat, and a Methodist. He is unmarried. Residence: Florence.

ARNOLD, Leonard M., Physician
and Surgeon, Florence, Ala., native of Boyd
County, Ky., son of Dr. Andrew and Martha
J. (Dupuy) Arnold, natives of the States of Pennsylvania and Kentucky, and of Scotch and Irish
extraction, respectively, was born October 17, 1852.
He was educated at Ashland Academy, Ashland,
Ky., at the Kentucky University, and graduated
from Vanderbilt University in 1880 as a Doctor of
Medicine. Coming into Alabama immediately
after leaving college, he located at Gravelly
Springs, Lauderdale County, where he entered at
once into a successful practice. That he might
be nearer to schools for his children, he removed
into Florence in January, 18S7, and permanently
located. He was married in this county, March 17,
1884, to Miss Cornelia Darby, and has had born
to him two children. The family are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and the
Doctor is a Mason. Though comparatively a stranger in this part of
the county, Dr. Arnold is in the enjoyment of a
first-class and rapidly increasing practice. He is
regarded as a skillful, care*ful and reliable physician, and is a man with encouraging prospects.
