MT. PLEASANT CHURCH
My ggg-grandparents moved from Blair, Fairfield Co., SC to Pickens Co., AL in 1839. I have a record from their church in SC that says they were going to the Mount Pleasant Church in Pickens Co. I know there were there on the next census. Does anyone have any records from this church?

CASHMAN and wife MARY H. UNKNOWN
Regarding Pickens county info, I have a great uncle, James W. Cashman, of Dora, Walker, Alabama, that married a Mary H. in Pickens Co. on March 14, 1940. They had a child named Jackie. I would love to know more if they lived in Pickens.

LAFAYETTE, HUGHHugh Lafayette was an Irish man who served in the Mexican War in 1846 and upon discharged out of Camp Jeff Davis in Louisiana, he moved into Wilcox County and then owned some land up in Lamar County and then settled in Pickens. One of his sons, Elias Lafayette, worked for the Duncan family in Greene County. Hugh Lafayette left his family around 1870 to go back to Ireland and was never heard from again. Sarah and children moved to Mississippi and eventually settled in Arkansas. I have copies of census reports from 1860 and 1870 in Pickens County and Elias was in Green County in 1860. I did come across a voter’s registration log that Hugh’s name appears on from 1867 Hale, Alabama. With Hugh being Irish with the last name of Lafayette, it has become apparent to me that perhaps his name was misspelled or not even Lafayette at all. I’m not quite sure about when and how he came to America or why he went back. I’m at a brick wall, but I continue to search. Perhaps this can be posted and someone has more information to share? I’m so intrigued with my 3x great grandfather from Ireland who settled in Alabama.Hugh Lafayette and Sarah Elizabeth (Conner) Lafayette. Hugh was about 20 years old than his wife.Pickens County federal census 1860 and 1870

Looking for William Henry PHILLIPS/PHILIPS born 1855. The earliest I find him is in 1876 Sumner Co. MS. Marriage Certificate, (married Missouri (Annie/Ann) WEST of MS. then 1880 census: Sumner Co. MS. Also in household is his sister Mary PHILLIPS born abt 1862.
On his daughter's death certificate it states that William Henry was born in Pickens County, AL.
Any info on this family would be helpful.
