FELL FROM A WINDOW
Haleyville Man Met His Death in Tuscumbia Hotel
Tuscumbia, Ala., July 4--(Special)--Joseph Mayhall, a well known citizen of Haleyville, Ala, is dead in this city from the effects of a fall from the third floor of the Central Hotel to the sidewalk.
He suffered a fractured skull, a broken arm, and internal injuries, lingering several hours before relieved by death.
Mayhall and his brother came to Tuscumbia over the Northern Alabama Railroad, arriving here at 7 o'clock. They occupied room No. 15. Joe Mayhall got up out of his bed about 1:30 and sat in the window overlooking the sidewalk. His brother is of the opinion that while seated on the window sill he dropped to sleep and tumbled out, the distance to the pavement being about thirty-five feet.
He never regained consciousness, although he lived for several hours. He leaves a wife and three children. His body has been prepared for burial and will be sent to his home at Haleyville for burial. He was probably 40 years of age.
