Ray Uhl
Services for Ray Uhl, 52, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the First
Congregational Church, 2610 E. Northern Lights Blvd., with the Rev.
Donald Plank officiating. A visitation will be held Thursday from 6 to
8 p.m. at Kehl's Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel.
Mr. Uhl's body was found Oct. 2 in the Knik River. He died in a canoeing accident.
Born March 12, 1933 in Berlin, Wis., he had lived in Alaska since 1962.
At the time of his death he worked for Arco Alaska as a flow station
operator. He was a veteran of the Korean War, in the Marine Corps., and
was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 82, F&AM, Cutbank, Mont.; a
member of the Scottish Rite and a member of the Alaska Shrine Temple of
Anchorage. He was also a member of the Royal Order of Moose, Lodge No.
1543.
He is survived by his wife, Norma, of Wasilla; one son, Timothy, of
Eagle River; three daughters, Susan and Carol Uhl of Anchorage and
Nancy Dupier of Homer; his mother, Elyda Uhl of Berlin, Wis.; one
sister, Mary Reiter of Havre, Mont.; his stepson, Frank Foode; and one
stepdaughter, Gail Foode, both of Cordova; and three grandchildren.
Memorial contributions in Ray Uhl's name may be directed to the Alaska
Crippled Childrens' Travel Fund, 1730 E. Northern Lights Blvd.,
Anchorage, Alaska 99508. Burial will be at Valley Memorial Cemetery in
Palmer. Arrangements by Kehl's Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel.
