The Yukon-Koyukuk census area has a total area of 147,843 mi² 145,900 mi² of it is land and 1,943 mi² of it (1.31%) is water. The area is roughly the same size as the U.S. state of Montana. It has the largest area of any county or county-equivalent in the United States.
