Wilson Herl (Ben) Hawkins, 72, of DeWitt, died June 8. He was born May 7, 1933, in Russellville, AL, to Robert and Adder Brimer Hawkins. He was a farmer and a member of Unity Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Bessie Hawkins; a son, Marty Hawkins; two brothers, Donald and Doyle Hawkins; and a sister, Lois Ridge.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Doris Vance Hawkins; two sons, Terry Hawkins and his wife, Rena, and James Hawkins and his wife, Karen, of DeWitt; three daughters, Joyce Gosa and Glenda Hawkins of DeWitt and Connie Moyer and her husband, Randy, of Crocketts Bluff; a daughter-in-law, Dana Hawkins of DeWitt; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held June 11 at Unity Missionary Baptist Church with burial in the Almyra Cemetery by Essex Funeral Home of DeWitt.
