FORMER SCHOOL TEACHER MARIE BURNSIDE, 105
  GALESBURG, IL - Marie H. Burnside, 105, of Bella Vista, Ark., formerly of Galesburg, died at 2:20 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 27, 1997, at Bates Hospital in Bentonville, Ark.
  Born Sept. 25, 1892, in Bloomington, IL to August and Sarah Scott Anderson, she married Carl S. Burnside in 1921 in Peoria. He died Nov. 17, 1931. She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Julie Ann Burnside, one brother and two sisters.
  Surviving are one son, Terry of Bella Vista, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
  She attended college in Hawaii. She was an elementary school teacher in Hawaii and Galesburg from 1911 to 1920. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Hope Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Rio Dell, CA--CRYSTAL ORLENA CARTER  was born December 29, 1921, in Benton County, AR. She peacefully passed away at the age of 81, at her home in Rio Dell, on Saturday, May 24, 2003.
In July of 1940, at the age of 18, Crystal married Lawrence Carter. Until the year of 1943, they resided in Arkansas until moving to Loleta to work at Humboldt Creamery. Crystal and Lawrence eventually moved into the Fortuna area, where they enjoyed raising a family of six children.
In approximately 1951, Crystal started working as a nurse at Scotia hospital. At the opening of Redwood Memorial Hospital, she went to work as an OB Nurse, helping to deliver many of the children of the area, including many of her own grandchildren. She continued working at Redwood Memorial Hospital until the opening of St. Luke Manor, where she took a position as a charge nurse on the night shift. She continued working at St. Luke until her retirement in 1983. After retiring from St. Luke, Crystal did some in-home health care until completely retiring from nursing due to ill health.
Crystal continued living in Fortuna until 1989. She then moved to Dinsmore with her sister Pat, to help take care of her brother-in-law, until moving back to Rio Dell in 1992, to be closer to her family.
Crystal is survived by her three daughters, Pamela Baynes and husband Sam Baynes of Justin, TX, Barbara Ringler and husband Don Ringler of Rio Dell, and Betty Lucas of Rio Dell and son-in-law Gary Lucas of Rouge River, Oregon; 28 grandchildren, Kevin and Tracy LeGrand, Scott and LeAnn Haynes, Darin Carter, David and Shawn Carter, Crystal and Kevin Waters, Deana and Joe Melt, Lorinda and George Whitchurch, Kevin and Shawna Carter, Kerri Lucas, Jason and Karissa Carter, Dawnel and Joey Sancho, Jamie and Kayce Carter, Jerry Lucas, Stephanie Carter, Dustin Lucas, Patty Lucas, Keith Carter and Beau Carter; 28 great grandchildren, Danielle, Aaron, Cori, Kenyen, August, Andrew, Tyler, Samantha, Emily, Kevin, Natasha, Kayla, Kori, Sharena, Kellie, MaKayla, Truston, Bryce, Megan, Kristen, Tara, Kayla, Carter, Gage, Denise, Caree, Kavinal and William; precious Uncle and Aunts, Marshall and Georgia Buxton and Ona Mae Moore; Brother-in-law and friend, Gerald Overbey, and her extended family, Rita Carter-Hefley, Casey Thompson, and Judy Richardson; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and many wonderful friends.
Crystal was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Carter; sons, Lary, David, and Terry Carter; parents, Clyde and Leota Moore; sisters, Imogene Hamilton, Patricia Kihle, Beth Overbey; brother, Henry Moore; two grandsons, Jason and Jesse Lucas; and great granddaughter, Jacque LeGrand.
Crystal was daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, GG, niece, aunt, cousin and friend to many. She lived her life with honor, dignity and a very special love for her family and friends. Never enough can be said about the void that her passing has left inside all of us. Her loving heart and gentle ways will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She will forever be in our hearts.
Friends are invited to attend funeral services on Thursday, May 29, 2003, at 1:00 p.m. at Goble's Chapel, Fortuna.
Casketbearers will be grandsons, George Whitchurch, Joey Sancho, David Carter, Kevin Carter, Jeremiah Lucas, Dustin Lucas, Scott Haynes, Jaime Carter, and Joe Mell. Honorary Casketbearers will be Harold Overbey, Gerald Overbey and Kevin Waters.
The family would like to express our gratitude to the nurses and staff at Redwood Memorial and General Hospital's, Rita Carter-Hefley, "Nurse Betty", and Dr. Olkin for all the excellent care they provided.

Oklahoma City, OK--COLEN DEWEY COX went to his Heavenly home Jan. 7, 1991. Born in Benton County, Ar. Aug. 25, 1898. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 72 years, Oma Cox. Survived by his daughter, Marion Allen, OKC; 4 granddaughters, Catherine Pylant, Mission, Tx., Barbara Filler, Canton, Ga., Charlotte Cowey, Carmel, In., Susanna Allen, OKC; 7 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren; sister, Izella Pinkston, Sapulpa; and a host of faithful friends. He was a faithful worker and member of Crossroads Cathedral. He especially enjoyed being an usher and any other job that needed doing. SEMINOLE, OK--CHARLES FRANKLIN ERMEY - Services for Charles Franklin Ermey, 65, a Seminole resident, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church in Siloam Springs, Ark, Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery conducted by the Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs.
He died in his home Saturday afternoon following an extended illness. A native of Guthrie, Okla., he moved to Texas in 1968. He was employed as a plasterer and was a member of the Methodist church.
Surviving are his three daughters, Elizabeth Ermey and Mrs. Ruth Beavers, both of Seminole, and Mrs. Reba Wortman of Cincinnati, Ark.; a son, Charles of Moore, Okla.; his mother, Mrs. Bertha Ermey of Siloam Springs; two sisters, Mrs, K. L. Wright and Mrs. E. R. League, both of Tulsa, Okla.; three brothers, E. K. Sr. of Everett, Wash., Jack of Pampa and Bill of Edmond, Okla.; and five grandchildren.

Edmond, OK--FISHER, Wallace R., a long time Edmond Dentist, died November 15, (1982). He was born October 1, 1904 in Edmond, however, lived for many years in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. He received his D.D.S. in 1927 from St. Louis University at which time he returned to Edmond where he practiced Dentistry until his retirement in 1975. Dr. Fisher had been a member of the Oklahoma and American Dental Associations. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Edmond where he served as a Deacon for many years. In 1977 he received a Meritorious Service Award from St. Louis University. Dr. Fisher is survived by his wife Zelma of the home, a son Wally of Oklahoma City, a sister Mrs. Jessie Rooney of Miami, Arizona, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Edmond Wednesday at 11 A.M. Interment will be at Gracelawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Baggerley Funeral Home until 9:30 A.M. Rogers, AR--MRS. MELLIE KEATHLEY HALL, 73, of Rogers, died at her home Friday (Sept 4, 1970).  Born Oct. 12, 1896 in Ellington. Mo., she was a member of the Church of Christ.  She is survived by her husband. William E. Hall of the home: one daughter. Mrs. Georgia Henson of Marshfield, Mo.: two sons, Col. Robert Hall with the U.S.A.F. in Columbus, Ga. and Durward Hall of Rogers; three sisters. Mrs. Lottie Vermillion of Roseburg. Ore.: Mrs. Dellora Morgan and Mrs. Bonnie Gossett, both of St. Louis, Mo.: three brothers, Rufus Keathley of Belle. Mo..  Thomas Keathley of Jackson Mo., and Delmar Keathley of St. James. Mo.: nine grandchildren and one great - grandchild.  Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Burns Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Benton County Memorial Gardens.

Former John Brown University Dean Dies at Age 76
SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – L. L. HILTON, 76 year old former dean of John Brown university at Siloam Springs and retired director of the General Extension Service of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville , died Thursday in a Fayetteville hospital.
Born January 20, 1885, in Virginia , Mr. Hilton moved to Arkansas in 1904.  He received his bachelor of arts and master of arts degrees from the University of Arkansas .
He joined the staff of John Brown University on 1921 and the staff of the University of Arkansas in 1926.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Gertrude Hilton:  two sons, John Hilton of Fayetteville and Lydle Hilton of St. Petersburg, Fla.:  five daughters, Mrs. Virginia Goodwin of Russelville, Mrs. Frances Strickler of Fayetteville, Miss Marion Hilton of Tulsa, Okla., Mrs. Kathleen Bryant of Springdale and Mrs. Della Brandt of Springfield, Mo:  his stepmother, Mrs. Bessie Hilton of Haberton:  two brothers, Lucian Hilton of Springdale and G. C. Hilton of Fayetteville.  14 grand-children and two great-grand-children.
Services will be announced by Nelson funeral home of Fayetteville .

Sullivan, IL- - J.D. (DALE) HOBACK, 96, of Mt. Zion, IL,  formerly of Sullivan, passed away 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, October 02, 2007 in St. Mary's Hospital with his daughter at his bedside.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday October 6, 2007 at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Marrowbone Twp. Cemetery, Bethany. Memorials may be made to the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Bethany.
Dale was born February 12, 1911 in Benton County, AR, the son of Richard and Maud (Osborn) Hoback, the oldest of seven children. He married Lucille Heagerty on December 16, 1934 in Vaughn, AR. She preceded him in death on September 18, 1996. Dale was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Bethany. He was a retired cheese maker and a janitor for Sullivan High School.
Dale is survived by his daughter, Marilyn (Jack) Bone of Decatur, IL; seven grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren; brother, Jay (Nancy) Hoback of Bentonville, AR; dear friend, Julia Clutter of Sullivan; sisters-in-law, Ava Griffin of Siloam Springs, AR, Norma Hoback of Pea Ridge, AR and Doreen Hoback of Belle Vista, AR.

Sulphur Springs, ARK–MAXINE JARVIS, 84, of Sulphur Springs, Ark., died at 3:15a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002, at Gravette Manor in Gravette , Ark, after an illness.
Maxine Jarvis was born Nov. 15, 1917, at Santa Fe, Kan., to the late Ray E. and Lenora H. (McCullum) Osborn. She had lived in Sulphur Springs, Ark, for nine years coming from Southwest City, Mo, where she resided since 1972. She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club. She worked for Daisy Manufacturing in Rogers, Ark., for approximately 15 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Leland Osborn and Lynn Osborn, and one sister, Marjorie Goss.
Additional survivors included two sons, Jim Jarvis and wife, Earlene, of Sulphur Springs Ark., and Kenny Jarvis and wife, Linda, of Southwest City, Mo.; two brothers, Ray Osborn of Pensacola , Fla., and Gene Osborn of San Clemente, Calif.; a sister, Winifred Koksal of Garden City, Kan.; five grandchildren, Justin Jarvis of Seneca, Mo., Jimmy Jarvis of Hiwasse, Ark., Susan Sherman of Bentonville, Ark., Ron Jarvis of Gravette, Ark., and Mike Jarvis of Santee, Calif.
Graveside services for Maxine Jarvis will be held Friday Aug. 9, 2002 at 10a.m.at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Gravette , Ark.  Visitation will held from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002 at the Ozark Funeral Home in Southwest City , Mo. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Hillcrest Cemetery Association in care of the funeral home.

ST. LOUIS, MO–L. JEFF KING, 64; EX-RAILROAD EXECUTIVE--A memorial service for L. Jeff King, former president of the Terminal Railroad Association here, was held Monday in Bella Vista, Ark. A second service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Chaffee, Mo. His body was cremated.
Mr. King, 64, of Bella Vista, died Saturday at a hospital in Tulsa after a long illness.
Mr. King, whose railroad career spanned 40 years, became president of the Terminal Railroad Association here in January 1978. He previously had been with the Burlington Northern Railroad in Chicago. Mr. King retired from Terminal Railroad in 1982.
He was born and reared in the southeastern Missouri community of Chaffee and attended Southeast Missouri State College.
He served in the Army in World War II.
Mr. King was active in the Regional Commerce & Growth Association. He received the Redevelopment Study of St. Louis Award.
Surviving are his wife, Vonda King of Bella Vista; three sons, David King of Tulsa, Joseph King of Dallas and Brad King of Omaha; a sister, Mary Frances Burnett of Chaffee; and seven grandchildren.

El Dorado Springs, MO--CHARLES WAYNE LOWE, 74, El Dorado Springs, died April 3, 2002, at Cedar County Memorial Hospital in El Dorado Springs. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, April 5, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Longview Funeral Home. Interment at Longview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 12 noon-1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Wayne was born June 5, 1927, in Benton County, AR, to Herbert and Alta Lowe. He retired from General Motors Leeds Plant after 32 years, and was an Army Air Force veteran of WWII. Oklahoma City, OK--CARMON RUCELL PHIPPS, age 85, passed from this life July 25, 2002. He was born in Benton County, AR, on Aug. 20, 1916, to Earl & Beulah Phipps. Carmon moved to Okla. City in 1936, and served in the U.S. Army 7th Div. Field Artillery during WWII. He was married to Irene Hoyt, in Santa Monica, CA, in 1942. She died in 1964. They had one daughter, Linda Kay; 3 sons, Larry, Dennis, and Robert. Carmon married Birdie Ison Corley in 1965. She died in 1993. Carmon owned and operated the Carmon Phipps Wholesale Meat business from 1949 until 1977, when he sold the business and retired. He served as a volunteer at the V.A. Medical Center in Okla. City, was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Bethany, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, served as a hospital representative for many years. He is survived by two sons, Robert W. Phipps & wife, Bernice, Upland, CA, and Larry R. Phipps & wife, Cyndi, Annandale, VA; two sisters, Lorene Tillery & husband, Claude, Watts, OK, and Kathleen Jack & husband, Merrill, Gainer, AR. Oklahoma City, OK–HARVEY “MIKE” ROBISON, 85, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 1996, at Hillcrest Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was born Oct. 30, 1911 at Gentry, Benton County, Ar., the son of William M. & Mattie Belle (Mitchell) Robison. He and Elma Marinda Hamilton were married Oct. 6, 1934 at Okemah and she preceded him in death on Oct. 22, 1982. He moved to Okemah in a covered wagon in 1922. Mike was a member of Teamsters Union for 30 years and with OC&E, Pioneer and Lee Way Freight Lines. He was a featured driver in Lee Way Museum and was presented several awards for his safety record. Retiring in 1966, he became a self-employed carpenter until he moved to OKC in 1987. Survivors include 3 sons, Michael L. Robison & wife Leta, Jerry B. Robison, and David Robison & wife Sherr y, all of OKC; 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Okemah, with the Rev. Gary Bohanon officiating. MARY J. SPEARS TAKEN BY DEATH

CLARKSTON, WA--MRS. MARY JANE SPEARS, 69, resident of Clarkston nearly 20 years, died yesterday morning at 10:30 at Tri-State Memorial Hospital .  She had been in ill health for the last four years and had been a hospital patient intermittently much of that time.
She was born August 9, 1883, at Bloomfield , Ark.   When she was 19, she married Rev. Thomas Ingram, a Methodist minister who also operated a farm at Weddington , Ark.   He was killed in a farm accident in 1915.
She married John W. Spears, also a farmer, in 1917 at Siloam Springs , Ark.   Mr. and Mrs. Spears and family came west in 1926 and settled at Clearwater .  They moved to Clarkston in 1934, and made their home at 721 9th St .  Mr. Spears died May 29, 1950.
During her residence here Mrs. Spears attended Clarkston Methodist Church .
Surviving include six children:  Mrs. Louise Lohrey of Clearwater ; Mrs. Lucille McWillis of Portland, formerly of Clarkston; Jack Spears of Harpster, Idaho; Dean Spears of Lewiston; Ivan Spears of the U. S. Navy, member of the crew of the USS Bairoko, now stationed in Japan, and Mrs. Nola Bly of Asotin.  Also surviving are four step-children, Mrs. Jewell Smythe of Kansas City , Mo. ; Delbert Spears of Clearwater, Mrs. Ruby Yarbrough of Stites, and Harvey Spears of Grangeville, and 16 grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are pending and will be in charge of Merchant Funeral Home.

Bella Vista, ARK--MARGARET B. TROLINGER, 68, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 1996.  Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Robison Chapel of the Plains in First Christian Church at Amarillo with Dr. Douglas B. Skinner, senior minister, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle.
Mrs. Trolinger was born in Amarillo. She married Charles E. Trolinger in 1947 at Amarillo. They moved to Bella Vista, Ark., in 1980 from Dallas. She was a member of First Christian Church of Amarillo and Community Church of Bella Vista. She also was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and Friends of the Bella Vista Library.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, James L. Trolinger of Portland, Ore., and Steven C. Trolinger of Bentonville; her mother, Ila Dell McNew of Bella Vista; three granddaughter; a stepgranddaughter; and a stepgrandson.
The family requests memorials be to C.E. Trolinger Memorial Library of First Christian Church, 3001 Wolflin, Amarillo, Texas, 79109, or Salvation Army, 400 S. Harrison, Amarillo, Texas, 79101.

Pea Ridge, Ark--JESSIE VOORHIES, 90, of Pea Ridge , Ark. , died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006, at Bradford House Care Center in Bentonville , Ark.
Mrs. Voorhies was born Nov. 22, 1915 in Lyford Texas , the daughter of Frederick and Lillie (Oaks) Thompson. She was united in marriage to James Voorhies. He preceded her in death in 1965.
Jessie was retired from Emerson Electric. She moved to Pea Ridge, Ark., from Missouri in 2002. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Excelsior Springs.
Survivors include: one daughter, Winifred Luper of Kansas City ; one sister, Barbara Lacta of Rogers, Ark.; four grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by one son, James Ward; one infant daughter, Marjory Voorhies; three brothers, Bill Thompson, Fred Thompson and Geroge Thompson; four sisters, Mildred Hankins, Matilda Thompson, Annie Mae Johnston and Frances Hankins.

WILLIAMSBURG, VA - ELIZABETH V. WILLIAMS, 92, of Treyburn Drive, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998. Mrs. Williams was born in Benton County, Ark., and had resided in the Chambrel Retirement Community in Williamsburg since 1991. She was the daughter of the late John and Malinda Alden Blair and the widow of Ray Edwin Williams.
Mrs. Williams is survived by four children, Dr. John Alden Williams of Williamsburg, Dr. Nancy King of Seattle, Wash., James E. Williams of Huntsville, Ala., and Ray C. Williams of Pittsburgh, Pa. She is also survived by one sister, 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial liturgy will be held at the Ascension Byzantine Catholic Church, 114 Palace Lane, Williamsburg, at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 27. The Cremation Society of Virginia, Tidewater Office, is in charge of arrangements.
