Calhoun County
Calhoun County was organized on December 6, 1850 from parts of Dallas and Ouachita Counties.
It was named for South Carolina Statesman and U.S. Vice President John C. Calhoun.
The county seat is located at Hampton.

According to the 2000 Census, Calhoun County is the smallest county in state by population.

Calhoun County was formed after the Census for 1850 was taken in Arkansas.
