a retired superintendent for Monsanto Co., died Monday of lung cancer
at Ochsner Foundation Hospital. He was 69. Mr. Broach was born in
Calhoun County, Ark., and lived in Luling for the past 45 years. He
also was the owner and operator of Broach Auto Sales for 45 years. He
was a member of Boutte Assembly of God Church and the St. Charles
Business Association.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Adams Broach; a son, Doug Broach; three daughters, Diane Broach Pitchford, Donna Broach Post and Danelle Broach; his mother, Georgia Broach; a brother, Donald Broach; two sisters, Betty Klippert and Charlotte Brasher; and eight grandchildren. A funeral will be held today at 10 a.m. at Boutte Assembly of God Church. Burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery in Luling. Westside Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. --Times-Picayune, The (New Orleans, LA) - June 17, 1999 Versa Lee Hutcheson Brumley Jan. 1, 1905--Jan. 27, 1997 CONCORD, CA–VERSA LEE HUTCHESON BRUMLEY, retired apartment complex manager, died Monday. She was 92. The
native of Calhoun County, Ark., lived in Concord since 1981 and has
been a California resident since 1961. She and her husband Hugh, who
died in 1991, owned and operated cotton and timber farms and a grocery
business in Arkansas before moving to California.
She is survived by her daughters, Christine Horvath of Concord, Marcella Langley of Arkadelphia, Ark., and Grace Nunes of Hayward; sons, Bill Brumley of Concord and Edward Brumley of Martinez; sister, Madeline Hayes of Camden, Ark.; brother, Marvin Hutcheson of Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Services: 11:30 a.m. today at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward. --San Ramon Valley Times (CA) - January 31, 1997. GEORGETOWN, SC -- ONIE J. HOUSE, 85, died Tuesday, July 23, 1996, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. She was born Jan. 11, 1911, in Calhoun County, Ark., a daughter of the late Will Jones and Minnie Bill Carraway Jones. She was the widow of John E. House. Mrs. House was a member of Screven Baptist Church and the Deborah Sunday school class. She was a homemaker. Survivors include three daughters, Mildred H. Williams and Barbara H. Martin, both of Georgetown, and Linda H. Phillips of Columbia; a son, Dennis House of Charlotte, N.C.; two brothers, Ed Jones of Camden, Ark., and Bill Jones of Chicago; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Screven Baptist Church. Burial will be in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. FERRELL, JR., 77, a carman who retired from T&P Railroad in 1980 after 33 years, died Thursday at a local hospital. Graveside service: 10 a.m. today in Cedar Hill Memorial Park. Thomas Ferrell Jr. was born March 7, 1919, in Calhoun County, Ark. He was a member of Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors: Daughter, Lois Bond of Stockton, Calif.; stepdaughter, Dorothy J. Bennett of Fort Worth; mother, Lodia Ware Franklin of Oakland, Calif.; several grandchildren; one stepgranddaughter; and a host of great-grandchildren. Gregory W. FORD, SR.--A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 29, 1999, in Vancouver Avenue Baptist Church for Robert E. Ford Sr., who died Jan. 23, apparently of a heart attack, at age 66. Mr. Ford was born May 19, 1932, in Calhoun County, Ark. He moved to Portland in 1944 and attended Benson High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, then was a printer for Far West Federal Bank until 1984, when he retired. He was a member of the church. In 1980, he married Debra Dringenberg. Survivors include his wife; sons, Robert E. Jr., Michael, Robert P., Robert A., Jamar-Ea and Timothy, all of Portland; daughters, Vickie, Rhonda, Annette, Angel, Shacoya, Mattie Lee and Tasha, all of Portland, Lavelle Williams of Oakland, Calif., and Tracy Ford; sisters, Wilma Sanders, Alice Perkins and Frances Clinton, all of Portland, and Maxine Jones of Kansas City, Mo.; brother, William of Portland; and 26 grandchildren. BALDWIN, KS–ESTHER F. GILBERT--Services for Esther F. Gilbert, 90, Baldwin, Kan., will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Benton Funeral Home in Fordice with the Rev. Buryl Lloyd officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery in Fordice. Mrs. Gilbert died Monday, Aug. 14, 1995, at Orchard Lane nursing home in Baldwin. She was born April 4, 1905, in Calhoun County, Ark., the daughter of James and Mary Maulden Proctor. She grew up in Calhoun County and moved to rural Baldwin in June 1993 from West Helena, Ark. She was a homemaker and a member of Church of God in West Helena. She married Abner Edward Gilbert in 1923 in Calhoun County. He died Feb. 4, 1971. Survivors include two sons, W.R. Gilbert, Baldwin, and Floyd Gilbert, Wichita; four daughters, Wynona Ellen Patterson and Beverly Ann Gilbert, both of West Helena, Ark., and Agatha Gay Towles and Connie Crist, both of Belle Plaine, Kan.; a brother, Milas Proctor, Houston; 21 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. --Lawrence Journal-World (KS) - August 16, 1995. EVANSTON, IL–MAUDE GLORIA JACKSON, a longtime resident of Evanston, died April 28 at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston. She was 93. Born July 5, 1905, in Calhoun County, Ark., Mrs. Jackson was employed as a domestic worker. Known as "Gloria," she was active in many fraternal, civic and social organizations, including the Pride of the North 61, Order of the Eastern Star, Prince Hall Affiliation. In this organization, she became a Worthy Matron in 1955, and served as a Star Point and Mother of the chapter until her death. A member of the American Legion Auxiliary, she served as director of the seventh district from 1967-68. She was a member of Ebenezer African Methodist Episcopal Church in Evanston. Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her husband, George. Survivors include son Paul Stephens of San Diego; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister Odessa Hightower of Evanston; and many other relatives. Funeral services were held May 4 at Ebenezer African Methodist Episcopal Church in Evanston, with interment in Sunset Memorial Lawns, Northbrook. --Evanston Review (IL) - May 13, 1999. FORT WORTH, TX - LOUIS RITCHIE SANDERS, 88, a retired papermill machine operator, died Sunday in Grapevine. Funeral: 2 p.m. today at Maud Road Church of Christ in Camden, Ark. Burial: New Hope Cemetery in Calhoun County, Ark. Mr. Sanders was a native of Calhoun County and was a former longtime resident of Camden. He had served as an elder at Maud Road Church of Christ for 16 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Peterson Sanders. Survivors: Son, Ed Sanders of Searcy; daughter, Cathy Sanders Anderson of Fort Worth; four grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Clyde Sanders of Hope, Ark.; and two sisters, Hettie Sanders Caldwell of Warren, Ark., and Jennie Sanders Oliver of Hampton, Ark. services will be Thursday, February 3, 2005 at 11A.M. at Memphis
Memorial Gardens in Memphis, TN. Visitation will be 7:00 until 9:00
P.M. on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 at McCullough Funeral Home. -Mr.
Traller was born June 11, 1928 in Calhoun County, AR to the late Fred
Luther and Florence Traller. He was a veteran of the United States Army
and was retired from Civil Service on Robins Air Force Base where he
worked as a System Analyst for 35 years. Mr. Traller was a member of
Shirley Hills Baptist Church. -Survivors include, loving and devoted
wife, Jackie Traller, Kathleen; son, Ronald E. Traller, Memphis, TN;
son, Keith Allen, Memphis, TN; daughter, Jennifer Smith, Kathleen, GA;
and several grandchildren. McCullough Funeral Home has charge of
