Note:  Martha was the second wife of Henry.  They married about 1833.  Henry's first wife is unknown at this time.  Census records indicate, however, that there were three girls and two boys living at home in 1830.  One boy was William, the other siblings unknown at this time.

James Cowan, married Winney Herrean, daughter of Lewis Herrean & Elizabeth Redman
Sarah Cowan, married twice: Thomas Smith and Joseph Bennett (brother to Champion)
John Cowan, (family stories say he was killed during the Civil War)
Thomas Cowan, (family stories say he was killed during the Civil War)
Daniel D. Cowan, married twice: Louisa Tabor & Margaret Pierce
