Dermott - Doris Lee Ellis, 71, of Dermott, died Sunday at Delta Memorial Hospital at Dumas. She was born March 31, 1932, at Montrose (Ashley County), a daughter of the late Arthur Holmes Sr. and Lula Benton. Survivors include five sons, Eddie L. C. Ellis of Bakersfield, Calif., Dennis R. Ellis of Accokeek, Md., Maurice Ellis of San Francisco and Tracy Levell Ellis of Dermott; five daughters, Linda J. Ellis of Chicago, Rose Marie Walton, Lyndora Walton and Janice L. Fletcher, all of Louisville, Ky., and Sheila D. Miller of Fort Hood, Texas; two brothers, the Rev. Johnnie Lee Holmes of Dermott and Percy Holmes of Chicago; two sisters, Margaret Perkins of Halley (Chicot County) and Mable Brown of California; 21 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church at Dermott with the Rev. Jessie Turner officiating. Burial will be in Mt Oliver Cemetery at Hurds (Chicot County) by Davis Strickland Funeral Home of Dermott.
