SIKESTON, MO -
DARRELL ELLIS ALCORN, 84, died Nov. 11, 2001, at his home.
Born June 13, 1917, in Greenway, Ark., son of the late Ellis and Wrista
Alcorn, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was a
32nd degree Mason, member of Sikeston Masonic Lodge 310 AF&AM, a
Shriner with the Moolah Temple in St. Louis, past president of the SEMO
Shrine Club, member of the SEMO Shrine Horse Patrol and member of
Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3319 in Sikeston, Chapter 137 Order of
the Eastern Star and Elks Lodge 2319.
Active in business and service to the Sikeston community, he owned
Alcorn Real Estate and Insurance Company and was an area management
broker for HUD Housing for 23 years. The Business and Professional
Women's Club named him Sikeston Business Man of the Year in 1968.
On Sept. 12, 1935, he married Juanita Branum who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, William "Bill"
and Wendy Alcorn of Ocala, Fla.; two daughters and one son-in-law,
Bonnie and Richard Zugschwendt of Hernando, Fla., and Nancy Wymer of
Sikeston; two brothers, Delmar Alcorn of Sikeston and C.D. Alcorn of
Morley, MO; two sisters, Ruth Chaney and Blanche McDonald of Sikeston;
six grandchildren, Stan Vardell of Columbus, Ohio, Vickie Stewart of
Maude, Texas, Kim Harmon of Ballwin, MO, Kathy Riffey and Karen Alcorn
of Nashville, Tenn., and David Alcorn of Cape Girardeau. MO; and 10
great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were one son, Bobby Lee Alcorn; one brother,
Dale Alcorn; one sister, Gladys Kindred; and one granddaughter, Nancy
Lee.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, where Masonic rites are scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with
the Rev. William F. "Bill" Koch, pastor of the First United Methodist
Church, officiating.
Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.

WILMA D. AUSTIN, 86, of Sikeston died Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at
Pacific Care in Pacific, MO. She was born July 12, 1920 in
Knoble, AR, daughter of William E. and Nellie Wiseman Brown.
She
and Freeman Austin were married April 20, 1940 in Corning, AR.
He
died Feb. 12, 1988.
Austin had been a cook at Sheehy's IGA in
Sikeston and Running Horse Cafe in Morehouse, MO. She was a
member of Calvary Temple. Survivors include a son, David
Austin
of St. Charles, MO; two daughters, Joan Faulkner of Pacific and Pattie
Agee of Benton, MO; a sister, Jean Austin of Brier, Wash.; 17
grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded
in
death by a son, a brother and four sisters.
Graveside service
will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Garden of Memories Cemetery. The
Rev.
Larry Davis will officiate. Ponder Funeral Home is in charge
of
arrangements.
