SIKESTON, MO - VERNAL JUNIOR FEATHERSTON, 71, formerly of Piggott, Ark., died Oct. 5, 2001, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO.
Born June 10, 1930, in Greenway, Ark., to the late Vernal "Doug" and Nora Williams Featherston, he worked for Brown Shoe Co. for 30 years and was plant manager at Bernie (MO) for 18 years.
On Dec. 31, 1949, he married Maida Lewis, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are: two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Mary Ann Featherston of Gordonville (MO) and David and Robin Featherston of Sikeston; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Leon Elliott of Dexter (MO); two sisters, Vonell Dickerson of the state of Indiana and Carlene Scheffler of St. Louis; five brothers, Raymond Featherston, Wayne Featherston, James Featherston and Don Featherston of Piggott and J.B. Featherston of Paragould, Ark.; and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Carlos Featherston, and one sister, Mozella Hinkle, in addition to his parents.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at the Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home in Piggott.
Burial will follow in the Piggott Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
