Baton Rouge, LA--MARGARET LURLINE BAUCUM--Died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 1987, at Willis Knighten Medical Center, Shreveport, after a lengthy illness. She was 76, a native of Columbia County, Ark., former longtime resident of Port Allen and resident of Emerson, Ark. She was a retired State Times and Morning Advocate switchboard operator, with 13 years service. Religious services were held at Bailey Funeral Home, Haynesville, at 10 a.m. Thursday. Interment in New Ramah Cemetery, Millerton. Survived by husband, Harper W. Baucum; three sons,William G. Baucum, Emerson, Ark., Bennie Joe Baucum, Lake Earling, Ark., and Don C. Baucum, Port Allen; two brothers, Hosea Camp, Taylor, Ark., and Conroy Camp, Walkerville, Ark.; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Wade Beene, 66, a retired lieutenant colonel in the Air Force and Defense Department employee at Andrews Air Force Base, died Tuesday at his vacation home in Nags Head, N.C., following a heart attack.
Col. Beene served in the Army Air Corps in World War II and in the Air Force in the Korean conflict. He was a lawyer by training and his military specialty was law. He retired in 1969 and then worked as a civilian employee at the Air Force Systems Command at Andrews Base until his second retirement about 1973.
Col. Beene was born in Magnolia, Ark., and earned a law degree from the University of Arkansas. He also earned a master's degree in political science from Louisiana State University.
A resident of Alexandria, he had lived in the Washington area for[WORD ILLEGIBLE] years. He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Alexandria.
Survivors include his wife, Aldonna K., of the home, and two daughters, Penny Lee and Lynn Dianne, students at the University of Kansas.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO - RAY GRADY BENNETT, 87, died Oct. 7, 2001, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau..
Born Dec. 20, 1913, in Magnolia, Ark., son of the late Oscar and Mary Hill Bennett, he was a member of the Hanover Lutheran Church. He was a crew member for the gas division of Union Electric in Dexter, Cape Girardeau and Scott City and started the union at Missouri Utilities in 1949.
On July 25, 1939, at Brazil Mills, Neb., he married Emma Kruse, who survives of Cape Girardeau.
Other survivors include: one son, Robert E. Bennett of Rich Hill, MO; one daughter, Carol A. Roth of Jackson, MO; one sister, Lois Patterson of Haywood, Calif.; and nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, one brother and one sister.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Hanover Lutheran Church, where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Jeffrey Sippy and Assistant Vicar Matthew Cantu will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Eisleben Lutheran Cemetery at Scott City.

MAGNOLIA, AR - Eunice C. Booth, 85, of Magnolia, AR died Friday, November 1, 2002 at Magnolia City Hospital. She was born October 20, 1917 in Columbia County, AR to the late Pete Miller Crisp and Myrtie Booth. She was a Sales Clerk for Berk's Dept Store and was a devoted mother to son, Larry. She was a member of Antioch East Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George Lawrence Booth, grandson Kenneth Booth and a sister Lucille Barker.
Survivors are one son, Larry Booth of Magnolia, AR; three grandsons, Michael Booth and wife, Barbara, of Arcadia, LA, Jarrett Procell of Bossier City, LA, Gary Booth of Bossier City, LA; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Aubrey Crisp of Magnolia, AR; two sisters, Mary Gunnels and Nell White, both of Magnolia, AR.
Graveside services will be Sunday, November 3, 2002 at 2 p.m. at Antioch East Cemetery. Bro. Greg Payne will officiate. Visitation will be at Lewis Funeral Home, Saturday, November 2, 2002 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Huntingtons Disease Society.

Morris Alexander Curry, the first son of Luther and Mattie E. Curry, was born in Magnolia, Columbia County, Ar., April 17, 1913. He attended public schools in Columbia County and graduated from Lincoln High School in Camden, Ar. Received B.A. Degree from Arkansas Baptist College, Little Rock, Ar. and M.A. Degree from Phillips University, Enid, Ok. Morris accepted Christ as his personal Savior at the age of 13 and was baptized into the Macedonia Baptist Church of Columbia County, Ar. by his uncle, the Reverend J.F. Russ. He was called to the gospel ministry in 1935 and served 4 churches during his life, First Baptist Church, Idabel, Ok. (1937-51); Shiloh Baptist Church, Camden, Ar. (1951-55); Calvary Baptist Church, OKC, Ok (1955-64); Faith Memorial Baptist Church, OKC, Ok (1964-92). During his years in the active pastorate, Morris served as Moderator of the Southeastern District Baptist Assn. for 2 years, and Moderator of the East Zion Assn. for 4 years. He served as Secretary Treasurer of the Oklahoma Baptist State Convention, Moderator of the State Pastor's Conference and President of the Baptist State Pastor's Conference. He also served as a board member of the Progressive National Baptist Convention Publishing Board, member of Board of Directors of the OSSA. He served as Dean of the Congress of Christian Education of the Progressive National Baptist Convention and instructor of that convention. He served as Vice President of the local branch of the NAACP, President of the Oklahoma City Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance and President of the Concerned Clergy for Spiritual Renewal. Member of Keystone Lodge 2. He also authored several publications.
On November 26, 1996, a hard working pastor fell asleep. He leaves to mourn, a devoted wife, Zarah Curry, whom he loved dearly; a son, Morris Curry, Jr., wife Melba, Valejo, Ca; 2 brothers, Horace P. Curry, Sr., Little Rock, Ar. and Milliard J. Curry, Los Angeles, Ca; 3 sisters, Lutherine Harvey, Earnestine Davis and Marjorie Johnson, all of Indianapolis, In; grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends and loved ones who pay tribute to "Brother Curry" as he was affectionately called by all who knew him in both religious and secular circles.
A wake service will be held at Faith Memorial Baptist Church, 3117 N. Kelley Ave., Monday, Dec. 2, at 6:00 p.m. Funeral service will be at St. John Baptist Church, 4700 N. Kelley, Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements by McKay-Davis Mortuary.

COTTON VALLEY, LA - Funeral services will be held for Edward L. Davis, 68, at the First Baptist Church in Cotton Valley on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Kenny Joyner and Rev. Kenneth DeHart. Interment will follow at Cotton Valley cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday at the church.
Mr. Davis was born March 19, 1938 in Columbia County, AR to Carl Edward Davis and Margaret Marie Riddick Davis. He entered into rest Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006 following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his father, Carl E. Davis and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lois Allen Davis; his mother, Margaret Marie Davis of Stephens, AR; one daughter, Kay Bass and husband, Roy of Sarepta; two sons, Keith E. Davis and wife Betty of Cotton Valley and Carl Kevin Davis and wife, Mona Hollis-Davis of Sarepta; one sister, Sherry Jo Davis of Stephens, AR; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

BATON ROUGE, LA–MARY PEARCE GUISSINGER--Died 10:55 a.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 1986, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. She was 93, a native of Magnolia, Ark., and resident of Baton Rouge. She was a retired Department of Agriculture laboratory technician. Visiting at Welsh Funeral Home, 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Visiting at First United Methodist Church, 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until religious services at 10:30 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Joe McClain. Burial in Magnolia Cemetery, Magnolia, Ark.
Survived by two daughters, Mary Jane Klein, San Antonio, Texas, and Marcia Moser, Baton Rouge; three sons, John A. Guissinger, Brevard, N.C., Edward P. Guissinger, Houston, Texas, and Roger P. Guissinger, Baton Rouge; four sisters, Mrs. Odessa Smith, Alleene, Ark., Holland Polk, Magnolia, Ark., Jeanette Morgan, Shreveport, and Ila Graham, Houston; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by husband, John Adams Guissinger.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Business and Professional Women’s Club.

Peoria, IL-- ARMOUR THOMAS, 77, of Magnolia, Ark., near the Village Community, formerly of Peoria, died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005, at Magnolia City Hospital.
Born Dec. 20, 1927, in Blogett, Mo., he married Clara Faye Phillips. She preceded him in death.
He also was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Thomas.
Surviving are two sons, Russell (and Char) of Stephens, Ark., and Stephen (and Peggy) of Peoria; two daughters, Theresa Wilson of Magnolia and Karla Rowland of El Dorado, Ark.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was a World War II Navy veteran. A member of Caterpillar Fire Brigade, he worked at Caterpillar Inc. in Peoria, retiring after 35 years of service. He also was a member of Peoria Civil Defense Fire Rescue.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Lewis Funeral Home chapel in Magnolia, where visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight. Burial will be in Village Cemetery in Magnolia.  --Peoria Journal Star, The (IL) - August 21, 2005 



Colorado Springs, CO--ERMA L. TOOMBS, 91, died Jan. 5, 1999, in Widefield. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Toombs was born June 12, 1907, in Columbia County, Ark. She was married April 14, 1923, to Jim Toombs, who is deceased.
She is survived by a daughter, Juanita Sheeks; a brother, Ivy W. Thomas; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Tampa, FL-TRUBIE "GLENNA,'' WELCH, 77, of Tampa, died Thursday (Dec. 17, 1998) at Vencor Hospital. Born in Columbia County, Ark., she came here in 1958. She was a buyer for JCPenney in Britton Plaza. She was a member of Manhattan Avenue United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Wallace M.; a son, Kenneth, and a daughter, Cherie, both of Tampa; three sisters, May Ree Hall, Memphis, Tenn., Lila Bass, Camden, Ark., and Mary Kritikos, West Sacramento, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
