103) This indenture made and entered into between Alexander GORDON and
Nancy GORDON of the County of Conway and State of
Arkansas of the first part and Abner C. MORGAN of the County and State
aforesaid of the second part witnesseth

104) that for and in consideration of the sum of thirty five dollars to
us in hand paid by the said Abner C. MORGAN party of the second part
the rights hereby acknowledged hath granted, given, bargained and sold
and by these presents do grant, give, bargain and sell unto Abner C.
MORGAN his heirs and assigns, all our right, title and interest in and
to the following described real estate lying and being in Conway County
and State of Arkansas and described as follows, to wit, beginning at
the Southwest corner of the East quarter of Section number 32 in
township 8 North of Range 15 West North fifty two rods to a small elm,
thence East two rods and twenty links to white oak 15" inches in
diameter, thence thirty degrees East of South 58 rods and twenty links
to a black gum on the Section
line, thence West thirty four rods to the place of
beginning including six acres and one quarter to be more or less, to
have and to hold the above granted premises unto him the said Abner C.
MORGAN his heirs and assigns forever as in fee simple and we the said
Alexander GORDON and Nancy Gordon do assign our interest in the above
described land to Abner C. MORGAN that they are free and clear of all
encumbrances and that they will warrant the same against the claims of
all persons in testimony whereof we have set our hand and seal 17th day
of Feb A.D. 1854.

Know
all men by these presents that I Thomas D. RAGSDALE of the County of Conway in the
State of Arkansas for and in consideration of the natural love and
affection which I have for my daughter
Sarah Jane
WESTERFIELD and also for the further consideration of one dollar to me
paid by my said daughter the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and
before the sealing and delivery of the deed have given, granted,
bargained and sold and do by these presents give, grant, bargain and
sell unto my said daughter Sarah Jane WESTERFIELD the following slave
property, to wit, one mulatto boy of lite complexion named Henry aged
about eight years of the value of six hundred dollars and a slave for
life which said boy I claim and hold possession of by virtue of a bill of sale from
Dawson G. SHERRON administrator of the estate of William SHERRON
deceased of the County and State aforesaid dated 1st day of January
A.D. 1855 but it is expressly agreed and understood that the said
Thomas D. RAGSDALE will control and manage the said mulatto boy named
Henry and keep him in my possession during my natural life if I choose
or prefer so to do and at my death the said mulatto boy Henry is to
descend and belong to my said daughter Sarah Jane WESTERFIELD and the
heirs of her body to have and to hold the said mulatto boy named Henry
after my death to my said daughter Sarah Jane WESTERFIELD and to the
heirs of her body forever in testimony whereof I have hereunto set my
hand and seal on this the fourteenth day of December A.D. 1859

Personally appeared before me a duly commissioned and acting Justice of
the Peace in and
for the County of Conway in the State of Arkansas Thomas D. RAGSDALE to me
personally well known and acknowledged that he had voluntarily signed,
sealed and delivered the same for the uses, purposes and consideration
therein mentioned and expressed and desired me to so certify which is
hereby done accordingly. Given under my hand on this the 14th day of
December A.D. 1859.

GORDON, an acting and duly commissioned Justice of Peace
within and for the county of Conway in said State of
Arkansas, appeared in person Johnson BENNETT and Mary
BENNETT his wife, to me personally well known as the
persons within named appeared upon the written and foregoing deed of
conveyance, the parties granted and stated that they had
__ for the consideration and purposes mentioned and __ and I do hereby
certify the testimony whereof I have __ set my hand as such, Justice
of the Peace of Conway County and state of Arkansas the 1
day of Dec A.D. 1859.

232) This indenture made and entered into this the first day of
September A.D. 1860 between J.D. MORGAN of the County of Conway
and State of Arkansas of the first part and T.D. RAGSDALE
in the County and State aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that
whereas the said J.D. MORGAN is entitled to the said T.D. RAGSDALE by a
certain note bearing date the first day of September A.D. 1860 for two
hundred and thirty dollars and being and falling due the first day of
February A.D. 1861 and bearing interest at the rate of ten percentum
per annum from __ until paid __ __ that for the purpose of securing
payment of said note with the interest the said party of the firt part
has granted,
pg 233) bargained, sold, released and confirmed and by these presents
doth grant, bargain, sell, release and confirm unto the said T.D.
RAGSDALE his heirs and assigns the following described land or town
lots, to wit, lot 3 & 4 in block sixteen (16) in the town of
Springfield, Conway County Arkansas situated in the County of Conway as
shown by the plat of the town of Springfield in the
State of Arkansas together with all and singular the buildings,
improvements, hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in
anywise appertaining to have & to hold the above described
premises with the appurtenances thereto attached unto the said T.D.
RAGSDALE his heirs and assigns forever provede always nevertheless that
if the said J.D. MORGAN & their heirs, executors or
administrators shall __ as well and timely pay or cause to be paid unto
the said T.D. RAGSDALE the aforesaid note with the interest that my be
due therein on or before the first day of February A.D. 1861 then due
from thence forth that is to say __ the payment of said note with the
interest thereon this indenture and the estate hereby granted shall
cease determine and become absolutely null and void to all interests
and purposes anything contained to the contrary not withstanding. In
testimony whereof the said parties of the first part have hereunto set
their names and seals this the day and year first above written. J.D.
