WEATHERFORD, TX - ETHLYN MUSGROVE BAKER of Weatherford, a retired businesswoman, died Tuesday at her home. She was 97. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today in Holder Cemetery near Dennis. White's Funeral Home in Weatherford is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Baker was born in Dallas County, Ark. She was a former resident of Oklahoma, Fort Worth and Dallas and moved to Weatherford nine years ago. She recieved a teaching degree from the University of North Texas and was a schoolteacher for 10 years. She later worked for the Texas Railroad Commission and various oil companies, and became an investor. "She had a lot of spunk to her. She was just a real
businesswoman." said her brother Neal Musgrove. Mrs. Baker was a member of First Baptist Church in Dallas.
Survivors: Brother, Neal Musgrove of Weatherford; and two sisters, Beulah Collins of Silverton, and Nellie Powell of Seymour.   --Fort Worth Star-Telegram (TX) - March 7, 1991.




WASHINGTON, DC--DREW L. CARRAWAY, 64, a partner in the Washington law firm of Rice, Carpenter and Carraway, died yesterday at his home in Bethesda. He had suffered from a kidney ailment.
 Mr. Carraway was born in Fordyce, Ark. He graduated from Henderson Unversity in Arkadelphia, Ark., in 1935. He then came to Washington and worked for the Treasury Department while earning a law degree from George Washington University by attending classes at night.
He served as a captain with the Army Air Corps in World War II. After the war, he joined the law firm of Turney and Turney here.
Mr. Carraway helped establish the law firm of Rice, Carpenter and Carraway about 25 years ago. He specialized in transportation law.
He was a member of the D.C. and Arkansas Bar Associations and was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court. He belonged to the Motor Carrier Lawyers Association, the Bethesda United Methodist Church and the Kenwood Country Club.
He is survived by his wife, Jewell, of the home; a son, Andrew, of Burke; a brother, Hal, of Tyler, Tex., and two grandchildren.

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–ADELAIDE R. DICE, 80, OKC, died Thursday at Western Oaks Health Care Center. She was born in Fordyce AR, and was reared in Little Rock.
Survived by 1 daughter, Carolyn Cochran of OKC; grandchildren, Dr. John L. Cochran of Ponca City, and Mrs. Karen Tolle of OKC; 2 great-grandchildren, Allison Leigh Cochran and Kent Willis Cochran, both of Ponca City.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 7, 1984, 1pm at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Chapel. Committal services will be 10am Monday at the Roselawn Cemetery in Little Rock AR.

T. J. EVERETT DIED AT OUACHITA TUESDAY
T. J. Everett, aged 92, the last Confederate soldier in Dallas county, died Tuesday at the home of his son, J. T. Everett, at Ouachita.
Mr. Everett moved to Dallas county in 1850, at the age of five years and lived within a mile of his present home. During the Civil War he
fought in the battle at Jenkins Ferry, and also the battle of Marks Mill near New Edinburg.
Mr Everett was a fine and familiar character of the county, and had the love of his entire acquaintance.
He is survived by five daughters,  Mrs. W. L. Patterson of Holly Springs; Mrs. L. V. Dunlap of Manning; Mrs. Nettie Brazeal of
Ouachita, Mrs. J. J. Carter of Benton; and Mrs. John Grace of Grady;   two sons, J. S. Everett of Sparkman;  and J. T. Everett of
Ouachita; and a sister, Mrs. Mary Gatling of Holly Springs.
Funeral services were conducted at 3:00 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at Chapel Hill church near Ouachita, with Rev. C. H. Cayce of Thornton
assisting Rev. John Harris of Thornton. Burial was in the cemetery adjoining the church.
Mr. Everett was the grandfather of Mrs. W. A. Moore and Mrs. L. Z. Mallory of Fordyce.

NOTE:  His name was Thomas Jasper Everett/Everitt. He was born on 7 June 1845 in Coosa County, Alabama, and died 27 April 1937 in Ouachita, Dallas County, Arkansas. He lived most of his life in Dallas County, Arkansas and was married there to Permelia Elizabeth Peterson.


HELEN E. GRAY, EX-CITY WOMAN, DIES AT 77
WATERTOWN, NY--HELEN E. TIMBERLAKE GRAY, 77, of 15 W. Connelly Blvd., Sharon, Pa., formerly of Watertown, wife of Edwin E. Gray, former general manager of Empsall's Department Store, died at 9:22 a.m. March 17 (1988) in Shenango Valley Medical Center, Farrell, Pa., after a brief illness.
The funeral was at 11 a.m. March 21 at the Sample & O'Donnel Funeral Home Inc., Sharon. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery, Hermitage, Pa.
Surviving besides her husband are a daughter, Mrs. John S. (Ann) Getway, Sharpsville; four grandchildren; a great-grandson; a brother, Herbert A. Timberlake, Delaware, Ohio, and a sister, Mrs. Arthur (Janie) Lindsey, Kamuella, Hawaii.
Born in Dallas County, Ark., April 2, 1910, a daughter of Benjamin B. and Dora May Witherspoon Timberlake, she was a 1929 graduate of Elmira High School.
She married Edwin E. Gray on Sept. 4, 1932. Mr. Gray was general manager of Empsall's Department Store from 1966 until his resignation in 1976.
Mr. and Mrs. Gray moved to the Sharon area in 1950. Mrs. Gray was employed for nine years as an office clerk at Whitmer-Smith women's apparel in Sharon, while her husband managed it.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Sharon, and the Order of the Eastern Star, Jefferson Chapter 406, in Watertown.

NANCY DIANE HAZELWOOD, 58, of Fordyce, Ark., formerly of Southern Illinois, died Thursday, May 15, 2003 at the Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, Ark.
She was born Jan. 22, 1945 in Jacksonville, Texas, the daughter of Beebe and Mirian Lawson Jr. She was married to Melvin L. Hazelwood for 36 years.
Nancy was a teacher and a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church in Fordyce and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma.
She is survived by her husband, one son Russell Hazelwood of Fordyce; one daughter and son-in-law, Tracy Green of Maumelle, Ark.; one brother, Jahn Lawson of Lone Star, Texas; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today at St. John's Cemetery near Dongola, IL.
Crain Funeral Home in Tamms, IL  is in charge of the arrangements.



WEATHERFORD, TX - WILSON HEARNE, a retired flight control design engineer for General Dynamics, now Lockheed Fort Worth, died Wednesday (Jul 28, 1993) at his Weatherford home. He was 69.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Home in Weatherford.
Burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Greenwood Cemetery in Camden, Ark.
Mr. Hearne was born in Dallas County, Ark., and lived in Parker County for 23 years.
He received his bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the Univeristy of Arkansas and his master's degree from Southern Methodist University.
Mr. Hearne was a Methodist, an Army veteran and a member of Texas Professional Engineers.
He worked for General Dynamics for 32 years.

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–DONALD LLOYD HEINLEY, 66, of OKC passed away Monday, Nov. 15, 1999. He was born Jan. 19, 1933 in Fordyce, AR to Willie and Francis Heinley. Donald worked as an aviation safety inspector for the FAA and served in the US Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Richard Dean Heinley and an infant brother, Willie Everett Heinley.
He married D'Ann McRoberts on July 10, 1976.
Survivors include his wife, D'Ann of the home; a son, David Heinley of Edmonton, Canada and his daughter, Tara Heinley of Tulsa, OK; a son, Steven Heinley, his wife, Renee', their children, Michael and Megan Heinley of Yukon, OK; a daughter, Dianne Heinley Vinson, her husband, David, their children, Jeremey McKellips, Tiffany and John Mermer of Yukon, OK; a son, Keith Heinley and his children, Dera, Rachel, and Amy Heinley of Yukon, OK; a step-son, Richard Cox, and his children, Richard Cox, Jr. and Jamie Cox of Satellite Beach, FL; two sisters, Shirley Ford and her husband, Jerry of Crossett, AR, ,Janice Simmons and her husband, Leon of Conroe, TX; and a nephew, Tommy Wood and his wife, Sheila of Crossett, AR.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Friday, Nov. 19, 1999 at the Resurrection Cemetery Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society.

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–ERNEST “RED” MCALISTER, 69, passed away Nov. 10, 1985, at the Moore Municipal Hospital. Born in Fordyce AR, Nov. 24, 1915, Mr. McAlister had lived in OKC since 1946, coming from Arkansas.
He worked as a carpenter most of his life, retiring in 1980 from Commander Construction Co., after 12 years service as a carpenter's superintendent. Member of Carpenters Local 329. Member and Deacon at the Primitive Baptist Church. WWII veteran of the Navy. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed attending all sporting events.
Survived by his wife of 50 years, Arlene "Bill''; 1 son, Jerry A. of Moore; and 1 daughter, Sandra Darnell of Cookeville TN; a sister, Eunice Harrison of Fordyce AR; 5 grandchildren, Jay, Paige, Ashley, and Ryan McAlister, and Kristy Darnell. Services will be 10am Wednesday at the Primitive Baptist Church, 1200 SW 58th, directed by Vondel L. Smith & Sons Mortuary.

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–JOEL K. PEEK, 75, resident of Oklahoma City, died Sunday, Oct. 8, 1995 in Mercy Hospital. He was born Sept. 22, 1920 in Fordyce, Ar.
He was a self-employed steel building contractor, a veteran of WWII in the Army Air Corps and a member of Saint David Episcopalian Church.
Mr. Peek is survived by his wife, Coleen Barnhart Peek of OKC; a daughter, Sandra Custer of Copan, Ok.; a brother, Don Peek of De Queen, Ar.; 2 sisters, Maxine Branch of Nashville, Ar. & Ione Dugan of Temple, Tx.; & 3 grandchildren.
Services for Mr. Peek will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, in Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel, De Queen, Ar. with Rev. Loyd Perry officiating. Burial will be in Redmen Cemetery.

Cape Girardeau, MO.--FRANCIS NAYDEAN WALSH, 76, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, July 23, 2007 at Heartland Care and Rehab.  She was born March 3, 1931 in Dallas County, AR, daughter of George Logan and Mamie Ruth Green Walsh.
Walsh had worked at the Sterling Store in Fordyce, AR.
Survivors include two nephews, Jim Rothwell of Arkadelphia, AR, John Rothwell of Dallas; and a niece, Ruthie Andrus of Plano, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may call from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.  Visitation will also be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Stoney Point Cemetery in Fordyce.



MOORE, OK–ARNOLD F. “PETE” WELLS, age 64 of Moore, passed away April 7 (1985) at Baptist Hospital. He was born Nov. 12, 1920 in Fordyce AR, came to OKC in 1945.
He had been employed by Makins Concrete Co. for 38 years, member and Deacon of the Southpark Baptist Church and was an Army WWII veteran.
Survived by his wife, Eunafay of the home; a son, Larry of OKC; daughter, Pam Ross of Moore; step-son, Emery Pitts; step-daughters, Patty Collins and Bonnie Townsend, both of Blanchard OK; brothers, C.D., W.T., and H. H. Wells, all of Fordyce AR; 6 granddaughters, and 8 step-grandchildren.
Services 2pm Tuesday at the Colonial Chapel of the Vondel L. Smith & Sons Mortuary.

Akron, Ohio--FRED WESTBROOK, JR., 84, passed away Feb. 2, 1995 at Little Forest Nursing Home, after a long illness.
Born in Dallas County, Ark., he had lived in this community a number of years. He was employed by Firestone Tire & Rubber Co., last working in 1973. He was a member of Wesley Temple A.M.E. Zion Church, a member of the gospel choir, and class leader.
He is survived by wife, Jennie; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 11 a.m., at Stewart & Calhoun, with Rev. Dr. Curtis T. Walker officiating. Interment at Glendale Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Sparkman, AR--RAY DOUGLAS WHITE, 91, Sparkman, died July 5, 1997.  He was born November 19, 1905, son of William Joseph Boldin and Ecker England White.  His wife, Alverda Fore White, preceded him in death.  Survivors include three children, Jane Johnson, Don White and John White; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.  He was interred in the Sparkman Cemetery.  Pallbearers were the foremen of Ray White Lumber Company.  --July 7, 1997, contributed by Rhonda Clover.
