Thayer, MO--DOLLIE HALEY,
90, daughter of the late Burt Kirby and Rosie Stevens Kirby was born
Dec. 6, 1910 in Fryatt, Ark., and died Friday, Nov.. 16, 2001 in
Thayer, Mo. She was married Aug. 28, 1928 in West Plains, Mo. to John
Haley who preceded her in death.
She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker, and a member of the Assembly of God Church for over 40 years.
Survivors include six children, Bobby Haley and wife, LaVera of
Pocahontas, Ark., Billy Haley and wife, Clara of Koshkonong, Mo.,
Roberta Goetting and husband, Leon of Rocky Mount, Mo., Claude Haley
and wife, Doris, Mary Lou Hedrick and husband, Walter, and Donna
Moeller all of Saint Louis, Mo.; one sister, Lottie Jaquay of West
Plains; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and twin
great-great-granddaughters.
Services were Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001 at 4 p.m. at the Carter Funeral
Home Chapel in Thayer, Mo., with Rev. David Meade officiating. Burial
was in the Thayer Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of
Carter Funeral Home, Inc. of Thayer, Mo.
Pallbearers were Terry Kirby, Scott Haley, Terry Goetting, David Hedrick, Gregory Haley, and Jon Haley.

ARCHIE JOHN HATMAN,
84, son of the late Edmon Hatman and Manda Charlton Hatman was born
Aug. 7, 1917 in Camp, Ark., and died Nov. 22, 2001 in West Plains, Mo.
He was married December 28, 1945 in Memphis, Tenn. to Vera Kenney.
He attended school in Koshkonong, Mo., after which he served in the
Civilian Conservation Corps and the United States Forestry Service in
Grass Valley, Calif. He enlisted in 1941 in the U.S. Army and was in
the 40th Engineer Combat Regiment in the European Theater. He was
awarded the Bronze Star, the Good Conduct Ribbon, the American Defense
Service Ribbon and was given a field commission to the rank of 2nd
Lieutenant. He was honorably discharged in Feb. 1945, and served in the
United States Army Reserves until 1965 becoming Captain before his
discharge. While serving in England, he met his wife, Vera Kenney, who
was a member of the U. S. Army Nurse Corps and enjoyed 56 years of
marriage.
He was employed by Frisco Burlington Northern Railroad as brakeman and
conductor for 42 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of Saint Paul
Methodist Church in Thayer, the American Legion Charles Burkett Post
#344 in Thayer, and was a former board member of the Oregon County
Health Department and the Thayer Housing Commission.
Survivors include his wife, Vera of the home in Thayer, Mo.; four
children, Glenda Hatman Lewis of Little Rock, Ark., Paulette Hatman of
Ava, Mo., Patricia Hatman Krumwiede and husband, Vernon of Jefferson
City, Mo., and Donald Hatman and wife, Cindy of Thayer; three
grandchildren, Christie Hatman of Thayer, Jared Hatman of West Plains,
and Kristen Madsen of Fayetteville, Ark.; five great-grandchildren,
Eli, Noelle, Isaiah, Gracie and Aaron; two sisters, Lorene Adams of
Thayer, and Nadine Brazeal of Springfield, Mo.; and many nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Kenny Hatman; two
sisters, Ruby Siverly and Ann Clarke; and two brothers, Ray and Paul
Hatman.
Services were Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the Carter Funeral
Home Chapel in Thayer with Dr. Jack Martin and Rev. Ron Richardson
officiating. Burial was in the Thayer Cemetery with arrangements under
the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. of Thayer, Mo.Military rites
were conducted by John T. Kirk VFW Post 1828, Wayne T. Boles American
Legion Post 23, Bakersfield American Legion Post 374, and American
Veterans Post 98.
Pallbearers were Jared Hatman, Jerry Adams, John Coleman, Archie Adams, Jerry Kuykendall, and Allen Deckard.

SALEM, ARK–LARRY JAY HATMAN,
57, of Salem, died Dec. 4, 2001, in Mountain Home. Born March 16, 1944,
in Salem, he was the son of Cleo and Loretta Pauline Staggs Hatman.
He served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include a brother, Jerry Hatman of Salem; his best friend,
Julia Jenkins of Salem; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, David Hatman.
A memorial service was Dec. 10 at Barker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem
with John Hodges officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of
Barker Funeral Home of Salem.

GRACIE MANES HOLLOWAY, daughter
of the late David Leo Manes and Wretha Cook Manes, was born May 26,
1918 in Camp, AR and departed this life September 11, 1998 in West
Plains, MO at the age of 80 years, three months and 16 days.
She was united in marriage May 2, 1936 in Camp, AR to Ross Holloway, who preceded her in death January 22, 1985.
Survivors include two daughters, Ruby Jean Fuller and husband, Roy,
Thayer, Mo and Jolene Kissinger and husband, David, Bucyrus, KS; one
sister, Lillie Holloway, Camp, AR; one brother, David L. Manes, Jr. and
wife, Mary Lee, Mammoth Spring, AR; five grandchildren; and six
great-grandchildren.
She was of the Baptist faith and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one brother, Frank Manes.
Funeral services were held September 14, 1998 at 2:00 p.m. at Carter
Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, MO with Pastor Bob Epperson officiating.
Interment was held at Camp Cemetery under the direction of Carter
Funeral Home, Inc., Thayer, Mo. --Oregon County Times,
Sept. 17, 1998.
TESSIE
HATFIELD HUMPHREY of
Mammoth Spring, AR, the daughter of the late John D. and
Della Taylor Hatfield, was born June 18, 1920 in Pilot,
AR and died June 22, 1998 in the Fulton County Hospital,
Salem, AR at the age of 78 years and four days.
Mrs. Humphrey was a member of the Pilot Church of Christ
and on March 20, 1942 at Mammoth Spring, AR she was
married to Arch Humphrey and to this union three children
were born.
Survivors include her husband, Arch Humphrey of Mammoth
Spring, AR; two sons, Roger Humphrey of Mammoth Spring
and Johnny Humphrey of Phoenix, AZ; one daughter, Glenda
Brown of Mesa, AZ; three sisters, Lura Geib of Mammoth
Spring, Dutch Massengill of Mammoth Spring and Retta
Schulze of Ventura, CA.
She was preceded in death by six grandchildren, her
parents and six sisters.
Graveside services were held on June 24, 1998 at 10:00
a.m. in the Pilot Cemetery with Brothers Clovis and Ricky
Ragsdale officiating under the direction of the
Carr-Montgomery Funeral Home, Thayer, MO. --Oregon County
