 ASHEBORO - Gerold William Welch, 60, of 2135 Stratford Way died Friday at his home. Funeral will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Community Baptist Church in Candor. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

A native of Arkansas, he was self-employed with A-1 Waterproofing and Roofing. He was an Army veteran. Surviving are wife, Mrs. Linda Welch; daughter, Mrs. Diane Weis of Pennsylvania; stepdaughters, Mrs. Anita Mashburn of Thomasville, Miss Denise Diggs, Miss Tonya Diggs, both of the home; sons, Lynn Welch of Asheboro, Jerry Welch, Tommy Welch, both of Mountain City, Tenn., Gregg Welch of Thomasville; stepson, Randy Diggs of Raleigh; mother, Mrs. Elsie Harrison of Arkansas; father, Bulter W. Welch of Seattle; sisters, Mrs. Wanda Gunn of Paragould, Ark., Mrs. Virginia Tipton of Arkansas, Mrs. Vonnia Morris of Hot Springs, Ark., Mrs. Wilma Smith of Anacortes, Wash.; half sister, Mrs. Sheron Breding of Texas. The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home 7-9 p.m. today .

 Aaron Homer Massengill, 85, former mayor of Paragould and retired owner of Massengill Barber Shop, died Monday at Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould. Massengill was mayor of Paragould 1937-38 and 1941-42.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Mitchell Funeral Home with burial in Linwood Cemetery. He was a member of Paragould First Baptist Church and a Mason. Massengill, the husband of Ora Bell Busby Massengill, also leaves a daughter, Ms. Jean Massengill of Paragould; a stepson, James Gerald Holifield of Lake St. Louis, Mo., three grandchildren and a stepgrandson. The family requests that any memorials be sent to Paragould First Baptist Church or Greene Acres Nursing Home of Paragould.

  Marvin Wayne Wood, 77, retired service station manager, died Monday at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Cardwell, Mo., where he was a member, with burial in Cardwell Cemetery there. Heath Funeral Home of Paragould has charge. Wood, the husband of Luereine Wood, also leaves two daughters, Mrs. Shirley Ann Cude of Kennett, Mo., and Mrs. Jannette Carrol of Pensacola, Fla.; a son, Earl Wayne Wood of Tremonton, Utah; a sister, Mrs. Reba Stewart of Cardwell; a brother, Lannis Earl Wood of Cardwell, 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.Church and the Home Demonstration Club. PARAGOULD - William H. Dunnigan, 75, of Mt. Morris, Mich., formerly of Paragould, retired auto worker, died Wednesday at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, Mich. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Heath Funeral Home with burial in Browns Chapel Cemetery . He leaves his wife, Helen Dunnigan; two sons, Jim Dunnigan of Flushing, Mich., and Donald Dunnigan of Swartz Creek, Mich., five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
