Hot Springs County was named for the Hot Springs that were originally within its borders, but when Garland County was established the springs fell within the new county. The county seat is at 210 Locust Street, Malvern, AR 72104-3791. Phone number is 501-332-2261.

The county was organized November 2, 1829 from a portion of Clark County.
