county was formed October 20, 1820 and was named to honor the
Declaration of Independence.

THIS COUNTY NEEDS ADOPTED! Genealogy
Trails is a new
group started in Illinois in 2000 and expanded in 2006 to all fifty
states. If you love history and genealogy like the dedicated volunteers
