PATSY ANN SHETRON GRAY

BATESVILLE, AR–PATSY ANN SHETRON GRAY, 65, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001 at White River Medical Center at Batesville, Ark. She was born March 25, 1936 at Batesville, Ark. the daughter of Charles Dewitt and Lola Mae Trent Shetron.
She was a long time employee of the Sterlings Store in Batesville and a member of the First Church of the Nazarene at Batesville.
Survivors include: four brothers, Charles Shetron of Cave City, Mike Shetron, Ronnie Shetron and Rodney Shetron all of Batesville; a special cousin, John Nevin Scott of California; dear friends, Joyce Bone and Margaret Jeffrey both of Batesville; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Graveside services were held Friday, Nov. 9, 2001 at 10 a.m. at Oaklawn Cemetery in Batesville with Rev. Tim Williams officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Qualls Batesville Funeral Service at Batesville.
Pallbearers were: David Shetron, Shannon Shetron, John Shetron, and Shawn Shetron. Honorary pallbearers were: John Wilbanks, Kenneth Clark, R.B. Floyd, Bert Trumble, Sr., and Rickey Jeffrey.

SHARON HADDOCK

Independence, MO--SHARON HADDOCK, 85, Independence, passed away Sunday, February 11, 1996, at Park Lane Hospital. Funeral services will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 14, at Carson Independence Chapel; burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Kansas City, MO. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, February 13, at Carson Independence Chapel.
Mr. Haddock was born December 23, 1910, in Independence County, AR. He was a truck driver for General Motors for 33 years, retiring in 1973. He was a member of the Raytown Church of Christ, but attended the Winner Road Church of Christ, Independence, MO. He was a member of East Gate Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, York Rite, Ararat Shrine and U.A.W. 93. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Nettie Beatrice Haddock, in 1982.
Survivors include his wife, Vergie May Butts Haddock, of the home; son, Jerry Haddock, Kansas City, MO; two daughters, LaVerl George, Kansas City, MO, and Lavonda Pointer, Fort Worth, TX; two stepdaughters, Sharon Shepherd, Independence, MO, and Ann Rice, Independence, MO; sister, Mildred Smith, Norman, OK; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and eight step - great-grandchildren.

MAUDE CUMMINGS JUSTICE

Maude Cummings Justice, 103, of Osceola, Ark., died May 27, 2008, at an Osceola nursing home. She was born March 11, 1905 in Batesville, Ark., the daughter of the late Joe and Amanda Cummings.
She was a farm laborer and homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith.
She is survived by: three daughters, Lucille Faulkenberry and Bernice Johnson, both of Osceola and Jo Ann Pace of Cave City; one son, James O'Neal Justice of Sidney, Ark.; one sister, Lena Dunegan of Osceola; 210 grandchildren which includes great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, James Edward Justice; two sons, Junior Edward Justice and Eugene Justice; one daughter, Pauline Bryant; four sisters, Stella Palmer, Fan Neiman, Emma Finley and Bette Cummings; six brothers, Jim Cummings, John Cummings, Bill Cummings, Charlie Cummings, Edgar Cummings and her twin brother, Aud Cummings; and some great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held May 30 at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville with Bro. Cliff Liles and Bro. Donald Finely officiating. Burial followed in the Weaver's Chapel Cemetery located north of Batesville with arrangements under the direction of the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Charles Hayslip, Levon Hayslip, James Faulkenberry, Jerry Faulkenberry, Henry Farris, Joe Johnson, Jesse Justice and Terry Justice.
Honorary pallbearers were her grandsons, Larry Jones, Herbie Farris, Golden Pace Jr., Gary ?Pace, Melvin Johnson, Carl Justice, O'Neal Justice and Nathan Justice.   --South Missourian, Thursday, June 5, 2008.


WILLIAM A. LOWREY

BATESVILLE, AR–WILLIAM A. “WILLIE” LOWREY, 91, of Batesville, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001 at Batesville Nursing and Rehab. He was born July 3, 1910 at Bernie, Mo. He was a farmer and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Vernie Lowrey, of the home; one step-son, Charles Birdno of Cordova, Tenn.; one step-daughter, Betty Hays of Batesville; five step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Johnny Lowrey, Fred Lowrey and Charlie Lowrey and two sisters, Lela Hicks and Ruth Beeler.
Graveside services were held Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001 at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery located at Batesville with Bro. Carl Funderburk officiating, under the arrangements of Qualls Batesville Funeral Service at Batesville.
Honorary pallbearers were: Walter Lewis, John Baker, Les Barham, Roy Lee Ennis, Melvin Ennis, and Elvie Johnson.

EDITH MIDGETT

Dexter, MO.--Edith Lilly Midgett, 85, of Dexter died Monday, Aug. 20, 2007 at her home.
She was born February 25, 1922 in Oil Trough, AR, daughter of Willie and Bessie Williams Wallace.  She and Charles Aubry Midgett were married Oct. 16, 1943 in New Madrid, MO.  He died Sept. 17, 1977.
Midgett attended First Baptist Church at Risco, MO.
Survivors include four daughters, Zerlene Stafford and Darlene Rowland of Dexter, Linda Walker of Bloomfield, MO, Sheila Heartling of Jackson, MO; two sons, Jimmie Midgett of Dexter, Terry Midgett of Risco; five sisters, Nadine Orr of Columbia City, IN, Loudean Starnes and Manda Kellick of Dexter; Beatrice Segers of Jackson, Mich., Wanda Calvert of Fagus, MO; a brother, Harold Wallace of Parma, MO; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sons, a daughter and three brothers.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Wednesday at Brandshaw Funeral Home in Malden, MO.  The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 23, 2007) at the funeral home with the Rev. Lonnie Mittag officiating.  Burial will be in Rosewood Cemetery at Malden.


CHLOE AGNES PERRIN

Batesville, AR.--Mrs. Chloe Agnes Perrin, 76 of Batesville, died Sunday at White River Medical Center in Batesville. Born in Ravenden, she was the widow of Henley A. Perrin, and was a member of Harrison Avenue Church of Christ in Batesville. Survivors include a son, H. A. "Tony" Perrin of Mena; two daughters, Nonnie Smith of Batesville and Carolyn Keith of Corpus Christi, Texas; two brothers, Frank Justus of Texarkana and Stayton Justus of Serena, IL; two sisters, Betty Gray of Ravenden and Opal Sutton of Fairfield, Calif.; and six grandchildren. Funeral services are Tuesday afternoon at 2 at the Harrison Aveneue Church of Christ in Batesville, with Glen Pace and Dean Fugett officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery at Imboden under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service of Hardy. LEANORA F. RINEHART

Oklahoma City, OK--LEANORA F. RINEHART  of OKC, went to be with her Lord Saturday, July 8, 1989 at South Community Hospital. She was born in Independence County, AR April 22, 1910, the daughter of J.D. & Donia Collins. She moved to Oklahoma in 1920. She met & married Vernon Rinehart & 7 children were born of this union. She was retired from Tinker AFB, a member of the Central Hillcrest Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Vernon & son, Leon & is survived by her husband, Lois Rinehart, whom she married in 1982, a daughter, Donia Mannon of OKC, sons, Jim, Johnny, Leroy & Wayne, all of OKC & Melvin of Afton, OK & 7 stepchildren, 17 grandchildren & 14 great grandchildren & a host of other family & friends. Services 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Central Hillcrest Baptist Church.

CLEO RORIE

VAN BUREN, AR–CLEO RORIE, 85, of Van Buren died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at her home in Van Buren. She was born June 22, 1916 at Batesville, Ark., the daughter of John Henry and Lola Elvira Ishmael Graddy. She was a homemaker and of the Church of Christ faith.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth Rorie of Van Buren; two step-daughters, Vida Strother and Mildred Strother both of the Hutchinson Mountain community; two grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eulis Rorie; one infant son, Wyatt Eulis Rorie; one stepson, Ernest Lee Rorie; one stepdaughter, Fredith Hightower and one brother, William Kenneth Graddy.
Services were held Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the Hutchinson Mountain Church of Christ with Billy Fred Grady officiating. Burial followed in the Egner Cemetery located at Batesville with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.
Pallbearers were: Chris Rorie, Frank Petray, Roger Strother, Noel Baldridge, Larry Apple, and Larry Wayne Rorie. Honorary pallbearers were: Gary Bryant, Joe Long, Russell Hightower, Don Bice, and Andy Lee.

JAMES ROBERT SIMMERMON, JR.

Greenbrier, AR-- James Robert Simmermon, 57, of Greenbrier died Thursday (Aug. 26, 1999) at his home.
 Born Dec. 4, 1941, in Batesville, he was a son of James R. Simmermon Sr. and the late Marie Simmermon.
 Other survivors include a son, Eric Simmermon of Brookland (Craighead County); a daughter, Sonia Simmermon of Sidney (Sharp County); two brothers, Prior Simmermon of Greenbrier and Benney Simmermon of Conway; a sister, Cathy Heath of Conway; and three grandchildren.
 Funeral services were Saturday at Moorefield United Methodist Church in Batesville with Mary Catherine McSpadden officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery in Batesville by Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
 Pallbearers were Randy Frazier, Hewey Craig, Mike Rossi, Glenn Baker, Keith Hill, Ronnie Thomas and Marcus Bowers.
 Memorials may be made to Home Care Hospice, 1055 Sunflower Drive, Conway.

JAMES ROBERT SIMMERMON, SR.

Conway, AR--James Robert Simmermon Sr., 87, of Conway, died Monday (Aug. 27, 2001) at his home.
Born Aug. 21, 1914, son of the late Claude C. and Dessie Mae Ferguson Simmermon, he was a Navy veteran of World War II, a lumber and stave inspector, and a member of the Church of Christ in Independence, Miss.
He was also preceded in death by two wives, Marie Massey Simmermon and Ora Bernard Simmermon; two sons, James Simmermon Jr. and Gary Mack Simmermon; and a stepson, Charles Bernard.
Survivors are his sons, Prior Simmermon of Greenbrier and Benton Simmermon of Conway; a daughter, Catherine M. Heath of Conway; a stepson, Guy Bernard of Independence; a stepdaughter, Rebecca Neal of Independence; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Moorefield United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. Mary Catherine McSpadden. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
Pallbearers will be Hughie Craig, Randy Fraser, Mike Rossie, Chris Heath, Terry Bernard and Eric Simmermon.

BOYCE A. SISK

 Batesville, AR--Boyce A. Sisk, 79, of Batesville died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at his home.
 Born March 26, 1925, in Batesville, he was the son of Allen and Lilly Bullard Sisk. He was a mail carrier for 24 years on the street and seven years as a rural carrier. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Ruddell Hill Baptist Church and the National Letter Carriers Association.
 Survivors include his wife, Mae Bell Thompson Sisk; a daughter, Boyce Ann Swaims of Cushman; two brothers, Virgil Sisk of Batesville and Everett Sisk of McHenry, Ill.; five grandchildren, James Eric Simmerson, Sonia Marie Dayberry, Beth Winston, Boyce Benton and Justin Williams; a step-grandchild, Jaime Williams; seven great-grandchildren, Sarah Winston, Morgan Winston, Chase Dayberry, Cameron Simmerson, Logan Simmerson, Kiarah Benton and Ethan Abrom Benton; five step-great-grandchildren, Kelley Gibson, Daniel Winston Jr., Crystal Winston, Myriah Mitchell and Taylor Nelson; and several nieces and nephews.
 He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Lillian Ruth Williams; two brothers, Willie Sisk and Vaughn Sisk; and a sister, Verna Wright.
 Graveside services were at 10 a.m. today at Barnes Cemetery in Bethesda with Virgil Sisk officiating. Arrangements were by Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
 Honorary pallbearers were Sam Hurley, Lowell Turner, Glen Ballard, Dr. Lackey Moody, Roy Thomas, L.C. Spurlock and Dave Sewell.

DREW ESTHER STAFFORD

Allen, OK--DREW ESTHER STAFFORD, age 100, of Allen, died Sunday in Memorial Hospital, Ardmore. Born in Independence County AR., Jan. 10, 1885. She was one of 12 children born to Joel Byrd Milner and Louisa Jane Cummings Milner, a pioneer family in what became Pontotoc County, moving to the Chickasaw Nation in Indian Territory in 1893. She married Nathan Newton Stafford, a pioneer merchant in Allen, in 1904. She was the mother of 3, Ruby Doris Clark, (Mrs. Amos Clark), of Ardmore; Rosemary Friend (Mrs. Richard Friend) of Palmdale CA, and Nathan Roddie Stafford of Allen (deceased). She was an avid musician and lifelong member of the Allen Church of Christ. She is survived by her daughters; and by 7 grandchildren, Charles Gilmore, Idaho Falls ID, Janet Jentes, Anderson IN, Carol Gilmore, Las Vegas NV, Virginia Frakes, Wichita KS, Leah Margaret Friend, Corona CA, Keith Stafford Clark, Mustang, and Carl Clark, Edmond; and by 11 great-grandchildren. A grandson, Kenneth D. Gilmore, preceded her in death, as did 2 great-grandsons. Services will be at 2pm, Tuesday, at the Allen Church of Christ, arranged by Harvey Funeral Home, Ardmore.

MICHAEL VON WEST

Newark, AR--MICHAEL VON WEST, 52, of Newark died Monday (May 12, 2008).  Mr. West was an IBEW union master electrician and a member of the Church of Christ.  He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard V. West.  Mr. West is survived by his daughter, Sheina Tubbs and husband, John, of Batesville; mother, Melba Hall of Newark; brother, Tommy D. Hall of Newark; half-sister, Marilyn Hendrix of Biloxi, Miss.; and two grandchildren, Trinity and Tyler.  Graveside services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Blue Springs Cemetery with arrangements by Jackson's Newark Funeral Home.  Visitation is tonight from 5:30-8 at the funeral home.
