ARTHUR GRAY MASHBURN, former attorney general of Nevada, was born
December 13, 1872, in Jackson County, but moved with his parents to
Izard County when young. He attended the North Arkansas Academy at Old
Philadelphia. He then took a business course at Nashville, Tennessee.
He returned to Izard County and taught school for several years. He
joined the faculty of the Arkansas School for the Deaf, Little Rock,
for five years, going from there to the state of Washington where he
taught in a school for the deaf for two years. He returned to Arkansas
and studied law at the University of Arkansas from which he received
the LL.B. degree. He then moved to Nevada and was later elected
attorney general of that state. He served in this capacity 12 years,
retiring to private practice about four years ago. He now lives at
Carson City, Nevada.

E. E. MASHBURN, brother of Arthur Gray Mashburn, was born three miles
north of Melbourne October 16, 1881. After attending the North Arkansas
Academy under J. W. C. Gardner for several months, he entered the
University of Arkansas from which he graduated with the degree of
Bachelor of Civil Engineering in 1907. After this he surveyed railroad
routes in Arkansas for about two years. He then spent two years in
survey work in Brazil, South America. He went into private engineering
practice in 1914 and continued until 1933 when he joined the Arkansas
State Highway Department. He still works with this department and makes
his home in Little Rock.
