WILLIE I. BANNING

Imboden, AR--Willie I. Banning, 92, of Imboden died October 22, 2003 at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro, AR.  Born December 24, 1910 at Williford, AR, she was the daughter of William Jefferson and Eva Bell Hill Gray.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Rainbow Chapter of the Eastern Star.
Her husband, John Banning, preceded her in death in 1989.  Two brothers, George Gray and Hill Gray, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include one sister, Madge Farris of Arlington, Tex.; and seven nieces and nephews, Beverly Gray and Jackie Gray, both of Little Rock, Billy Gray, Eddie Gray and Joy Junkersfeld, all of Ravenden, John Gray of Pocahontas and Billy Gray Moore of Oxenhill, MD.
Private graveside services and burial were held by the family.


ALVIE WILSON BELLAH

WALNUT RIDGE, AR–ALVIE WILSON BELLAH, 88, of St. Louis, Mo., formerly of Walnut Ridge, died Nov. 1, 2001, at Christian Northeast Hospital in St. Louis. He was born Nov. 21, 1912 in Lawrence County, Ark., the son of the late Alexander and Bertha Tribble Bellah.
He was married to Lillie May McCall on Dec. 5, 1930 in Walnut Ridge. She preceded him in death on March 2, 1996.
He worked as a farmer for 50 years in Walnut Ridge and as an employee at Brukhart in St. Louis for 12 years. He was a member of Freewill Baptist Church in Hopewell, Ark.
Survivors include: four daughters, Hettie Nicholson of Tuckerman, Betty Franks and Linda Howard both of St. Louis, and Sharon Holt of Arizona; three sons, Alvin Bellah and Wilbern Bellah both of St. Louis, and Bobby Bellah of Lake City; two brothers, Tz Bellah of California and Al Bellah of Washington; 29 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, three sons, two sisters and three brothers.
Services were held Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the Higginbotham Chapel, Walnut Ridge, with Rev. Harland McCall officiating. Burial was in Lawrence Memorial Park in Walnut Ridge with arrangements under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service, Inc. of Walnut Ridge.
Pallbearers were Bill Bellah, Phillip Bellah, Robert Bellah, Ricky Franks, and Greg Nicholson. Honorary pallbearers were Ernie Bellah, Jerry Bellah, Mark Bellah, Steve Bellah, and Tommy Bellah.

ANNA ELIZABETH SOUTHERN CAGLE

Walnut Ridge, AR--Anna Elizabeth Southern (Stabb) Cagle, 72, died at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital Nov. 26, 1992. Born at Hayes, Kansas to Alois (Stabb) and Rosie Ann Nichols Southern.  Married James Luther Cagle Sept. 5, 1940.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother and a sister.
She is survived by four sons, LaGrande and Dallas Cagle of Walnut Ridge, Glen Cagle of Mountain Home, David Cagle of Pocahontas. One daughter Glenda Cagle Vandergriff of Pocahontas, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

ALICE CONLEY

MRS. ALICE CONLEY OF ALICIA PASSES--Mrs. Alice Conley 55, of Alicia Route 1 died yesterday at 12 O'Clock at the State Hospital in Little Rock following a lengthy illness of complications of diseases.
Funeral rites will be held this afternoon at 2 O'Clock at the Cloverbend Cemetery, near Alicia. Gregg Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
Surviving are her husband Ramsey Conley, and one daughter, Coy Dean Conley.

EMMA LUCINDA DIXON

WALNUT RIDGE, AR–EMMA LUCINDA DIXON, 96, of Walnut Ridge, formerly of Smithville, Ark., died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Walnut Ridge. Born Dec. 4, 1904 in Smithville, she was the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Franklin. She was married to Henry Otto Dixon in 1920. He preceded her in death Sept. 1965. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two sons, W. M. Dixon of Smithville, and Brice Franklin Dixon of North Port, Fla.; one daughter, Dulene Wells of Imboden, Ark.; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Gene Dixon and Devone Dixon; two brothers, Lucian Franklin and Rudy Franklin; two sisters, Mollie Stokes and Fannie Ratliff; and one grandson, Earl Clements Jr.
Services were Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001 at 2 p.m. at Higginbotham Chapel. Burial was in the Townsend Cemetery in Smithville, with arrangements under the direction of the Higginbotham Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge, Ark.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Randy Dixon, Nolan Dixon, Don Clements, Michael Dixon, Preston Clark, a nd Greg Bunn.  Honorary pallbearers were grandsons, Gary Horn, Jerry Carr, Garylon Pierce, Myron Cole, and Todd Emison.

ERNEST WESLEY FAULCONER

Ernest Wesley Faulconer, 81, of Cape Girardeau, MO. died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007 at his home.  He was born Sept. 17, 1925 in Walnut Ridge, Ark., son of Waid Finis and Illma Curtie Bench Faulconer.  He and Ina Mae Kennedy were married May 8, 1948 in Pocahontas, AR.
Faulconer was of the Lutheran belief.  He was a member of Masonic Lodge 546 in Kansas City, MO.  He worked in security for Butler Manufacturing in Kansas City 33 years, retiring in 1984.
Faulconer lived in Kansas City 39 years, Sun City, AZ, four years, and then moved to Cape Girardeau in 1991.
He is survived by his wife; three brothers, Finis Faulconer of Parker Heights, TX, Curtis and Boyd Faulconer of Holiday Island, AR; numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007 at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.  The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007 at the funeral home, with the Revs. Mark Martin and Phil Thompson officiating.  Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.


ZELMA FINLEY

CHARLESTON, MO - ZELMA FINLEY, 73, died at 8:30 p.m. Oct. 27, 2001, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.
Born Oct. 14, 1928, in Walnut Ridge, Ark., daughter of the late James Henry and Mittie Jackson Spray, she lived in Charleston most of her life and was employed by Bessie's Restaurant before retiring in 1992. She was of the Baptist belief.
On Oct. 8, 1942, she married Dallas Finley who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Monica Finley of Bertrand, Mo.; one sister, Velma Butler of Charleston; one granddaughter, Angel L. Wheatley of Charleston; and six nephews and four nieces.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, William L. Spray and Robert C. Spray; and two sisters, Thelma Harris and Christine Teel.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. David Dowdy, pastor of St. James Baptist Church of East Prairie, Mo. will officiate.
Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.
Pallbearers will be: Danny Wheatley, Chris Wheatley, Johnny Patrick, Jeff Patrick, Dallas Butler and Dale Harris.

E. ALDEAN HARDGRAVE

E. Aldean Hardgrave, 78, of Walnut Ridge passed away Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Walnut Ridge. He was born April 9, 1928 at Coal Hill, Ark., son of Cade and Lula McMillin Hardgrave. He and Wilma Smith were united in marriage Jan. 9, 1954 in St. Louis.
Aldean had worked as a welder at Combustion Engineering in St. Louis. He was of the Baptist belief and a member of Bell City, Mo. Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Galbreath of Portia, Ark.; a brother, Orlan Hardgrave of Herculaneum, Mo.; twin sister, Lorene Walker of Dexter, Mo; a sister, Hester Crawford of Pocahontas, Ark.; and two granddaughters, Erica and Amy Galbreath of Walnut Ridge. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shelia Hardgrave.

EDWARD OSWALD JUSTUS

Hardy, AR--Oct. 2, 1960--Edward O. Justus, aged 75, a lifelong resident of Ravenden, near here, died Saturday at a hospital at Pocahontas. He was a retired farmer and a Baptist. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Maggie Justus; two sons, Stayton Justus of Oaklawn, IL, and Frank Justus of Texarkana; three daughters, Mrs. Opal Sutton of Martinez, CA, Mrs. Betty Gray of Ravenden, and Mrs. Chloe Perrin of Ravenden; 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Baptist Church at Ravenden by Rev. Bill Johnson and Rev. George McGhehee. Carrie Leola Lewallen, 97, died Dec. 29, 2006, at Randolph Nursing Center in Pocahontas. Formerly of Hoxie, she was a retired cook and was a member of Hoxie United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Lewallen; a son, Wallace Lewallen; two sisters, Ethel Lance and Bertha Lewallen; two brothers, Ernest Dobbs and Frank Dobbs; and two grandsons, Kelly Lewallen and Dale Lewallen Jr. Survivors include two sons, Dennis Lewallen, Nelson, Ill., and Dale Lewallen, Pocahontas; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral was Tuesday at 11 a.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Hunter officiating. Burial was in Strangers Home Cemetery near Alicia. Frankie Marie Like, 72, of Granbury, Texas, died Dec. 28, 2006. Born June 8, 1934, in Walnut Ridge, she was the daughter of Jessie and Violet Nunally. Survivors include her husband, John T. Like; two sons, Adrian Like, Rockford, Ill., and Joseph Like, McHenry, Ill.; two daughters, Vickie Bowman, Palatine, Ill., and Stacy Venable, Godley, Texas; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. DOROTHY MARIE MARKS

EAST PRAIRIE, MO - DOROTHY MARIE MARKS, 73, died at 6 p.m. Oct. 19, 2001, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born June 6, 1928, at Walnut Ridge, Ark., daughter of the late William Edward and Fronie Aday Burney, she had lived most of her life in Mississippi County and was of the Baptist belief.
Survivors include: two sons, William Marks and Kem Marks of Sikeston; three daughters, Stella Marcum, Judy Bramlett and Lisa Cogdill of East Prairie, two sisters, Gladys Terry and Louise Wallace of East Prairie; and nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday with Martin Lucas officiating.

ALICE MC QUEEN

BLOOMFIELD, MO - ALICE MC QUEEN, 70, died Nov. 5, 2001, at her home near Bloomfield.
Born Feb. 20, 1931, in Walnut Ridge, Ark., daughter of the late Marion and Gladys Birmingham Brady, she lived in Tennessee and Arkansas before moving to Bloomfield 35 years ago. A member of the Missionary Baptist Church in Yarbro, Ark., she was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Disabled American Vets, the Sheriff's Association and the National Rifle Association.
On June 7, 1961, at Blytheville, Ark., she married Ray McQueen who preceded her in death on April 14, 1983.
Survivors include: two sons, Alan McQueen and John R. McQueen of Bloomfield; one daughter, Linda Ottinger of Smyrna, Tenn.; two brothers, Oscar Brady of Bloomfield and Utah Brady of Houston, Texas; one sister, Winnona McGuire of Gulfport, Miss.; and eight grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were one son, Tim Alan McQueen on May 17, 1983; one granddaughter, Tanya Ottinger; two brothers, Melton T. Brady and Rudolf Brady; and one sister, Launa Rambo.

JACOB BERNARD PENN

LYNN, AR–JACOB BERNARD PENN, 95, a lifetime resident of Lynn, Ark., died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Walnut Ridge, Ark. He was born Dec. 4, 1905 the son of the late William Franklin and Hattie Mae (Cole) Penn. He was married to Virginia Lucille Martin on March 21, 1944 in Eaton, Ark.
He was president of the Lynn School Board for over 25 years; was a self-employed farmer, and a member of the Lynn Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Penn of the home; one daughter, Loretta Williams of Strawberry, Ark.; one son, J. B. Penn of McLeon, Va.; one sister, Leone English of Little Rock, Ark.; three grandchildren, Polly Williams and Kyle Williams of Jonesboro, Ark., and Penny Penn of Cummins, Ga.; one great-grandchild, Daniel Greene of Jonesboro; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters and three brothers.

MABEL JANE ROBERTS

SMITHVILLE, ARK–MABEL JANE ROBERTS, 84, of Smithville, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001 at White River Medical Center in Batesville. She was born Nov. 23, 1916 in Jesup to George Parker and Belle Turnbow Morgan, Sr.
She was a homemaker and a member of Eli Lindsey Memorial United Methodist Church at Jesup.
Survivors include her husband, Earnest J. Roberts of the home; two nieces, Louise Hutchison of Newark, and Twyla Morgan of Jackson, Tenn.; three nephews, Morgan Douglas of Cord, Fred Morgan of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Joe Morgan of Izmir, Turkey; and a host of other relatives and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Frank Morgan, Fred Morgan, and George Morgan, Jr.; and one sister, Mamie Douglas.
Services were Friday, Nov. 23, 2001 at 10 a.m. at the Eli Lindsey Memorial United Methodist Church located at Jesup, with Rev. John Stoll officiating. Burial was in the Lancaster Cemetery located at Strawberry, with arrangements under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.

BOBBY LOWELL ROBINS

Bobby Lowell Robins, 70, of Cape Girardeau, MO passed away Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007 at the University of Arkansas Medical Center in Little Rock. Bobby was born April 6, 1936 in Jesup, AR to James Lowell and Mollie Faye Robins. He was united in marriage to Patricia Joy Gould Sept. 10, 1960 in Grenada, MS. He moved with his parents to Dexter, MO in 1945 from AR and resided many years in Dexter, and for the past 23 years in Cape Girardeau. He served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958. He graduated from Arkansas State University at Jonesboro in 1961. Bob worked for Missouri Utilities/Union Electric 36 years and retired in 1997. He was district manager in Dexter and district sales and office manager in Cape Girardeau. In Dexter he was instrumental in bringing the Dexter Memorial Hospital to Dexter and served many years on its board of directors. Additionally he was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Jaycees and Kiwanis International. In Cape Girardeau he was an associate member of Southeast Missouri Hospital, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Kiwanis International. He was active in many state and nationwide organizations such as Missouri Community Betterment, Missouri Municipal League and The United Way. He was deacon and treasurer of First Missionary Baptist Church at Dexter and deacon and chairman of the Building Committee at First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Robins of Cape Girardeau; a son, Dr. James Howard Robins and wife, Sandra Denise Dowling of Cape Girardeau; his father, James Lowell Robins of Batesville, AR; two brothers, Byron Louis and wife, Wanetta of Heber Springs, AR, James David and wife, Janis of Prairie Grove, AR; two sisters, Barbara Ann and husband, Dr. Gerald Billions of Germantown, TN, and Martha Jo and husband, Joseph Ruiz of Batesville. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mollie Faye Andrews Robins. Friends may call from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Wednesday at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. ETHEL ROTTGER
Hoxie, AR--Ethel Rottger, 92, of Hoxie passed away Monday (May 12, 2008).  She was a cook at the Hoxie Cafeteria and of the Baptist belief.  Survivors include a son, Elmer Knight of Paragould; five daughters, Wanda Middlecoff, Geraldine Hager and Judy Toler, all of Hoxie, Zelma Knotts of Burlington, Iowa, and Dianna Bowen of Lonoke; 23 grandchildren; several great and great-great-grandchildren.  Graveside services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Lawrence Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Bryan Funeral Home of Hoxie.

DORIS J. SELSOR SEGRAVES

Doris J. Segraves, 87, of Cape Girardeau, MO died Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at Saint Francis Medical Center.  She was born Jan. 27, 1920 in Imboden, AR.  She and Henson C. Segraves were married Dec 25, 1949 in Piggott, AR  He died Oct 13, 1991.  She attended Calvary Temple Church in Cape Girardeau.  She owned and operated Cape Wiggery and Fashions more than 40 years.  Survivors include two brothers, Johnny Selsor of Jonesboro, AR, Tom Selsor of Cape Girardeau; and a niece, Reba Abbott of Scott City, MO.  Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home Thursday, June 28, 2007 from 4 to 6 p.m.  The funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday, June 29, 2007 at the funeral home, with Jack Cathcart officiating.  Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.


PEARL LOLA SHATSAR

Glenview, Ill.–PEARL LOLA SHATSAR, 87, of Glenview, Ill., died Monday, Nov. 12, 2001 at Glenbrook Hospital in Illinois. She was born Sept. 29, 1916 in Powhatan, Ark., the daughter of the late Lawrence and Nancy Jane Anderson Shatsar. She worked as a Tape Specialist for Western Union for 25 years, and attended secretarial school in St. Louis, Mo. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two nieces, Judy Curtis of Evanston, Ill., and Nancy Gill of Los Angeles, Calif., and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and three brothers.
Services were Friday, Nov. 16, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the Higginbotham Chapel in Walnut Ridge with Rev. Bob Smith officiating. Burial was in the Lawrence Memorial Park in Walnut Ridge, Ark. Arrangements were under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service, Inc., of Walnut Ridge.

BONNIE NADINE SMITH

Walnut Ridge, AR--Bonnie Nadine Smith, 64, of Walnut Ridge died Sunday, May 11, 2008 at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.  She was born Feb. 18, 1944 in Walnut Ridge, the daughter of Ray Edgar and Myrtle Frisbee Brown.  She married Billy Don Smith June 1, 1963 at Imboden.
Mrs. Smith was a retired school teacher after 30 years with the Walnut Ridge school system, member of the Arkansas Association of Retired Teachers and the Black Rock Eastern Star, a current member of UMW administrative board, former choir member, Sunday School teacher and decorator for the church.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years; three brothers, Joe E. Brown of Black Rock, Jim R. Brown of Manchester, MO, and Terry Brown of Mayfield, Colo.; three sisters, Carolyn Corbett of Black Rock, Evia Breshears of Lonoke and Henrietta Brewer of Picayune, Miss.  Many other friends and extended family will mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Higginbotham Chapel at Walnut Ridge with burial following in Lawrence Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service.  Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6-8 at the funeral home.


W. R. WINFREY

Hoxie, AR--July 19--W. R. Winfrey, aged 74, of Alicia (Lawrence County), a retired farmer, died Tuesday at a hospital here.  He was a native of Williford (Sharp County) and moved to Calvin Crossing near Alicia in 1953.  Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sallie Ross Winfrey; five sons, Floyd Winfrey, O.
