Lee County was the 72nd county formed along with Cleveland and Stone Counties on April 17, 1873.
It is located in the East Central area of the state along the Mississippi River.
The county seat is Marianna.
The county was established on April 17, 1873, and named for General Robert E. Lee, who served as General in Chief of the Armies of the Confederate States in 1865.
