Lonoke County Arkansas Genealogy Trails



--The Baptist Church at Lonoke is holding a protracted meeting.
--A rattlesnake measuring six feet in length and eleven inches around the body was killed in Lonoke County last week.
--Prof. D. C. Webb has resigned the presidency of Lonoke College.  He is to be succeeded by Prof. H. M. Lynn of South Carolina.
--Peter Bohannon (colored) fell from the top to the bottom of a well forty feet deep at Lonoke the other day and was dangerously hurt.

Hotel is Destroyed by Fire in Arkansas Town

England, Arkansas – (By Associated Press) - Six persons perished, two others probably will die and three more were seriously burned in a fire early today which destroyed the Royal Hotel here.
Those burned to death were Mr. and Mrs. Mack Rawles, Mrs. Jennie Anderson and nine year old daughter, and a man named Hooker, all of England, and Mrs. A. Hullahan, address unknown.
Dan Campbell of England and Will Heffner of Lombertin, Arkansas are in serious condition from the burns.
The Rawles were employed at the hotel while the other victims were guests.
