Madison
County was organized September 30, 1836 from part of Washington County.
It is in the northwestern section of the state. It was named for our
fourth president, James Madison. The county seat is located at: The King's River and Sweden Creek Falls Natural Area are part of Madison County. Sweden Creek Falls Natural Area is in the Boston Mountains and has an 80 foot waterfall. Other interesting recreation areas are: War Eagle Creek, Ozark National Forest and Withrow Springs State Park.
