Newton County

Newton County was organized December 14, 1842 from Carroll County and was named for Thomas W. Newton, a state legislator and United States Congressman.
The county lies within the Boston Mountains range of the Ozarks.
The county seat is at Jasper, and has been the country seat since its creation.
A fire destroyed the records in 1866.
