HARDY, ARK–CLARENCE BALDRIDGE, 81, of Martin Creek, died on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001 at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Ark. He was born Oct. 21, 1920 in Williford, Ark., the son of the late Arthur O. and Nora Ellen Young Baldridge.
He was united in marriage to Emogene Williams on March 6, 1943 in Detroit, Mich. He was a farmer/cattleman and co-owner of Hilltop Grocery at Martin Creek. He was of the Church of Christ belief.
Survivors include: his wife, Emogene Baldridge of Martin Creek; one daughter and son-in-law, Gwen and Bill Stroud of Salem; one granddaughter, Jennifer Stroud of Nashville, Tenn.; a special niece, June Robbins of Santee, Calif.; a special brother-in-law, W.A. Williams, Jr. of Boise, Idaho; four sisters, Lue Ann Baldridge, Ruby Baldridge, Ruth Lawrence, and Irene Powell; two brothers, Roland and Carson Baldridge; and many other relatives and friends.
Arrangements ere under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service, Inc. of Hardy.He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and four brothers.
Memorials may be made to the St. Judes Children's Research Hospital.

Evening Shade, Ark–CARRIE EMELINE WHITTEN BARNETT, 95, of Evening Shade, Ark., died Friday, Nov. 16, 2001 at a Cherokee Village hospital. She was born Sept. 10, 1906 at Cushman, Ark., daughter of Jasper and Manerva Whitten. She married Adie M. Barnett Oct. 5, 1924 near Sidney. She was a housewife, a school lunch supervisor at Evening Shade School and a librarian at Evening Shade. She was a member of the Evening Shade United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Thelma and Ross Jackson of Lubbock, Texas, and Cora Lou and Paul Davis of Evening Shade; 11 grandchildren, George Moss of Liberty, Texas, Gail Vickery of Baytown, Texas, Brenda Arnold of Wichita, Kan., Carolyn Benson and Susan McAlexander both of Lubbock, Texas, Sherron Johnson of Levelland, Texas, Perry Jackson of Houston, Texas, Ricky Davis of Heber Springs, Pam Buie of Batesville, Harlan Davis of Highland, and Laurie Weaver of Evening Shade; 27 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Eva Lee Paysinger of Batesville; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Roxie Moss; two brothers, Bill Whitten and John Henry Whitten; three sisters, Artie Thomas Pilant, Trixie Qualls Hoaney, and Jewell Whitten; and three infant great-grandchildren.
Services were Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the Evening Shade United Methodist Church with Rev. Loye Vern Mason officiating. Burial was in the Evening Shade Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City, Ark.

CHEROKEE VILLAGE, Ark. - JACK BARTRUTT, 80, Cherokee Village, formerly of Chesterton, IN, died Saturday (July 3, 2004) at White River Medical Center, Cherokee Village.
The funeral is at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, with the Rev. Gerald Schweitzer officiating. Burial is in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Bartrutt was born June 29, 1914, in Balcom, Ill.   --News-Dispatch, The (Michigan City, IN) - July 6, 2004.

 

Elco, IL.--MRS. MARY M. BOTTOM, age 72, Elco, died Sunday afternoon April 3, 1988 at her home in Elco. Mrs. Bottom was born December 31, 1915 in Sharp County, AR, daughter of the late Alfred Bertrum and Louie Lucinda (Justus) Mashburn. Mrs. Bottom was a member of the Elco Methodist Church, and was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Bottom on April 26, 1969. 
Survivors include four daughters, Naomi S. Baldwin, Phyllis K. Becker and Sandra L. Asher, all of Rochelle, IL, and Anna L. Newell of Noble, IL; two sons, Allen W. Bottom of Elgin, IL and Charles J. Bottom of Elco; one sister, Louise J. Garside of Williford, AR; and one brother, Bertrum B. Mashburn of Seymour, MO; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. 
Funeral services for Mrs. Bottom will be Wednesday, April 6, 1988 at 10:30 a.m. at the Jones Funeral Home, Tamms, IL with Rev. Lacie Betts and Rev. Bruce Gordan, officiating, with the interment following in the Ebenezer Hall Cemetery near Lick Creek, IL. Friends called between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Jones Funeral Home in Tamms.

CHEROKEE VILLAGE, ARK–AUDREY FAYE BRUNER, infant daughter of Greg and Hope Davis Bruner of Cherokee Village, Ark., died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, at Regional Medical Center of NEA in Jonesboro, Ark.
In addition to the parents, survivors include: one brother, Harrison Kent Bruner; maternal grandparents Pat and Mike Davis of Hardy; and paternal grandparents Jess and Venita Bruner of Jonesboro; and a great-grandmother Mrs. F.E. Davis of Hardy.
A private graveside service was held Friday, Nov. 9, 2001, with Bro. Marty Polston officiating. Heath Oak Hill Chapel of Hardy was in charge of arrangements.
The family asks that in lue of flowers memorials be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock.

Cave City, AR--ANNA GENEVA FORD BURGE, 98, of Cave City died Thursday, December 18, 2003 at the Batesville hospital.  Born September 30, 1905 at Cave City, she was the daughter of John Edward and Margaret Paralee Matlock Ford.  She was a teacher in a one-room school and a cook at the Cave City Schools.  She was a Christian and a member of First Missionary Baptist Church at Cave City for 83 years.  She served the church as a Sunday School teacher and a Bible teacher.

Her husband, Ernest Burge; one son, Thomas Neal Burge; two brothers; two half-brothers; five half-sisters; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Justin Ford Burge of Batesville and Dr. Paul D. Burge of Mission, Tex.; one daughter, Anna Lee Burge Carreiro of Cave City; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 20, at First Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City, with Robbie Horne officiating.  Burial followed in the Palestine Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Dennis Smith, Paul Matthews, Tommie Masner, David Sneed, Mitchell Brewer, and Paul Wayne Johnson.  Honorary pallbearers were members of the Auditorium Sunday School Class at First Missionary Baptist Church of Cave City.
