was born September 15, 1923, in Hardy, AR, to Sam and Beatrice Young
Reeves, and passed away Wednesday, June 11, 1997, at the Country Villa
Health Care Center at the age of 73.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 14, at the Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home, Osceola, MO; burial will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery, near Vista, MO. The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Gene Reeves; and her faithful companion of 27 years, Earl Frye. She is survived by two sons, Gene Koenig and wife, Glenda, of Weaubleau, MO, and Gary Koenig and wife, Lynnette, of Independence, MO; two brothers, Adrian F. Reeves, of Osceola, MO, and Harold Reeves, of North Kansas City, MO; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Ill.--MRS. LOUIE LUCINDA MASHBURN-GOODMAN, 73 years old, of Elco and a former resident of
Williford, Ark., died this morning (May 31, 1972) enroute to a Cape Girardeau (MO)
hospital. She was born Dec. 8, 1898 in Poughkeepsie, Ark,
daughter of Charles H. and Mary Ann McKinney Justus.
Survivors are a son, Bertrum B. Mashburn, Seymour, Mo.; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Bottom, Elco, and Mrs. Louise J. Garside, Williford; three brothers, Ernest E. Justus, Livonia, Mich., Harmon L. Justus, Port Hueneme, Cal., and Charles R. Justus, Williford; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Alfred Bertrum Mashburn, a son, Charles D. Mashburn and a daughter, Antoinette Scarbrough. The body is at the Farnsworth Funeral Home in Tamms, IL where friends may call after 1 p.m. Thursday afternoon. The body will be moved Friday morning to the Higginbotham Funeral Home in Hardy, Ark., where funeral services will be held at 2 Saturday afternoon. Burial will be in the Williford Cemetery. (Contributed by Granddaughter Anna Newell) Jonesboro, Ark–BERTHA JUANITA MASON, 89, of Jonesboro, formerly of Hardy, died Nov. 18, 2001, at her residence. She was a member of Bono First United Pentecostal Church of Bono. She had lived in the Hardy area from 1970 to 1998 before moving to Jonesboro. She was a pioneer member of Arkansas Hearing Society, where she served as vice president and treasurer. She received the Thomas A. LeBanc Award in 1994. She is survived by three sons: Thomas Franklin Hodgkiss, David Lee Wallace and James Wyatt Mason Sr., all of Jonesboro; three daughters: Nellie Margaret Crow of Irving, Texas, Donna Raye Wallace and Mary Jo Clark, both of Hardy; 23 grandchildren; and 43 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank E. Mason; a daughter, Jewell Maxine Kerby; and one son, Lester Wallace. Services were Wednesday, Nov. 21 at 1 p.m. in the Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Chapel in Jonesboro, officiated by Danny Murphy. Burial was in Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers were Charles Crow, Joe Kerby, James Mason Jr., Jeff Mason and Timothy F. Hodgkiss and Dennis J. Mason. Honorary pallbearers are Brendan L. Tate, Shane Willcockson, James Crawford Jr. and Kevin Chadwick. --Wednesday, November 21, 2001-South Missourian. ASH FLAT, ARK–COLON R. MC PHERSON, 82, of Ash Flat, Ark., died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001 at the Ash Flat Nursing and Rehab Center in Ash Flat. He was born May 9, 1919 in Hardy, Ark., the son of John Wesley McPherson and Maggie Young McPherson. He was a self-employed carpenter for many years and was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, having served during World War II. Survivors include two sons, Ray Brett McPherson of Reyno, Ark., and Danny Roy McPherson also of Reyno; and one daughter, Barbara Walker of Hoxie, Ark. Graveside services were Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the McCullough Cemetery near Hardy, with Rev. Floyd Rikard officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel in Highland, Ark. --Wednesday, November 28, 2001-South Missourian Walnut, Ridge, AR--ELETTA MAY MEDLOCK, 91, of Walnut Ridge, died May 9, 2008, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Born Sept. 21, 1916 at Cave City, she was the daughter of Frank and Mary Goodman Fleming. She was a homemaker and was of the Church of Christ faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lacie Medlock, in March 1970, whom she married June 20, 1935, at Kings Mill. Survivors include three sons, L. F. Medlock, Hardy, Eddie Medlock, Salem, and Larry Medlock, Black Rock; seven daughters, Lois Dowdy of Jonesboro, Bernice Parrish, Walnut Ridge, Carolyn Conley, Black Rock, Kay Collins and Judith Rutledge, both of Imboden, Joyce Howard, Ravenden and Diane Collins, Hardy; a half-sister, George Fletcher, Ash Flat; four half-brothers, David Fleming, Missouri and Danny Fleming, Homer Fleming and Eugene Fleming, all of Ash Flat; a stepbrother, Billy Watts, Oklahoma; two stepsisters, Mary Simms, Missouri and Johnnie Cagle, Fort Smith; 39 grandchildren; 73 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Funeral was Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Ash Flat Church of Christ with James Goodman officiating. Burial was in Maxville Cemetery, near Evening Shade, under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service. Highland, AR--FLOYD HERMAN MEYERS of Highland died Friday, May 9, 2008 at Fulton County Hospital in Salem, AR. He was born Dec. 15, 1927 to Charles and Elva Dorsey Meyers. Floyd was a Navy veteran and owned Hardy Cleaners, a moving business and a snow-plowing business. Survivors include his daughters, Sally Lawton of Belvedere, Ill., and susan Gray of Harvard, Ill.; sister, Donna Fox of Florida; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Services will be today (May 13, 2008) at 11 a.m. at Tri-County Funeral Home at Highland with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery.
