Perryville, MO--CONNIE PAULINE BREWER, 63, of Perryville died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007 at her home.  She was born Oct. 5, 1943 in Mountain View, AR, daughter of Ed and Clara Hill Sutterfield.  She and Joseph Brewer were married Oct. 21, 1961 at Fredericktown, MO.
Brewer worked in housekeeping at Perry County Memorial Hospital.  She was a member of Christ the Savior Catholic Church at Brewer, MO.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Tim Brewer of Perry County; a daughter, Michelle Brewer of Perry County; three sisters, Gladys Smith of Heber Springs, AR, Debbie Stewart of Little Rock, AR, Ima Clonninger of Crystal City, MO; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and a sister.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at Miller Family Funeral Home,  The wake will be at 6 p.m. Sunday.  The rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Monday.  Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Christ the Savior Church, with the Rev. Bill Rhinehart officiating.  Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.


Springfield, IL--CHARLES W. CHEZEM, 77, of Springfield died at 3:50 p.m. Monday at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born May 8, 1914, in Stone County, Ark., the son of John and Effie Haywood Chezem. He married Maude Gallagher in 1935 in Springfield. She died in 1989. Also preceding him in death were one brother, Ralph; and two sisters, Bernice Charles and Clara Benson.
Mr. Chezem was a Springfield resident most of his life, and was a member of South Side Christian Church. He had been employed for eight years by the state architect's office.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald E. of Springfield, and John of St. Charles, Mo.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Maude Kincaid of Springfield; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services at 1 p.m. Thursday at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery, with Bob Green officiating.

CORONA, CA--Graveside services for MINDA M. CLINTON, 89, will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at Riverside National Cemetery. She died of a heart attack Sunday at her Corona home.
Thomas Miller Mortuary in Corona is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Clinton, who was born in Stone County, Ark., lived 54 years in Corona. She previously lived in Oklahoma. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Corona.
She is survived by her sons, Albert of Crescent City and Fred of Rialto; a daughter, Dorothy Wiggins of Clarkville, Ark.; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Clara Turney of Oklahoma.

Independence, MO--JOYCE FAY "TOMMIE" DAVIS, 79, of Monterey Park Nursing Center, Independence, MO, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2002. Visitation and service will begin 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 20, at Park Lawn Chapel, 8251 Hillcrest Road, followed by graveside services at 11 a.m. in Green Lawn Cemetery. Tommie was born March 2, 1923, in Stone County, AR, and moved to Kansas City, in 1942. She retired from Southwestern Bell in 1942 after 40 years' service. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bob Davis, two brothers, Howard and Jim Hankins. She is survived by two sisters, Fern Appleby, of Kansas City, and Ann Hamby, of Calico Rock, AR, many nieces and nephews. Independence, MO--COLETA JEAN FIRKINS, 66, of Independence, MO, passed away Saturday, April 17, 2004, at her residence. Services 10 a.m. Thursday, April 22, 2004, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel. Coleta was born July 22, 1937, in Stone County, AR, to Alfred and Verlie (Berry) Peachee. She spent her early life in Arkansas before moving to the Kansas City area in 1955, where she met Harold Firkins and later married him on October 31, 1956. Coleta worked as a homemaker, raising two children and working part-time at the Heritage house and for a short time at Montgomery Wards. She was a member of the Atherton Restoration Branch. She is survived by her husband, Harold, of the home; two sons, Doug Firkins and his wife, Kathy of Leslie, AR, and Darcy Firkins of Independence; her mother, Verlie Peachee of Fairfield, AR; a sister, Betty Atchley of Kingfisher OK; a brother, Frank Peachee of Fox, AR; and two grandchildren, Clay and Wes Firkins of Leslie, AR. OLLIE M. FRITZ GOMER, 63, Cameron, MO, passed away Saturday, March 29, 1997, at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, MO. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, at Butler Funeral Home, 6300 Parallel; burial in Chapel Hill Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday, at the chapel.
Mrs. Gomer was born August 31, 1933, in Stone County, AR. She spent most of her adult life in the Kansas City area, the last six years in Cameron, MO. She was a lifelong Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde D. Fritz, in 1962. Survivors include, her husband, John L. Gomer; two daughters, Donna Baxter and Diana Reeter; two sons, Don R. Dexter, MO--NOVALENE HANN, 69, of Dexter died Thursday, June 21, 2007 at the home of a daughter in Dexter.  She was born Aug. 30, 1937 in Alco, Ark., daughter of Ervil O. and Chloe Chadwick Branscum.  Hann lived in Stoddard County, MO many years, moving to Dexter in 1966.  
Survivors include four daughters, Kathy Oliver, Sherry Creado and Debra Hampton, all of Dexter; Laura Hargrave of Belton, Texas; four sons, Douglas McDonald of Festus, MO, Tony McDonald of Miner, MO; Michael McDonald of Dexter and Norman Hann Jr. of Cape Girardeau, MO.  Also two brothers, James Branscum of Burton, Mich., Ray Branscum of Imperial, MO; two sisters, Edna Clark of St. Louis, Ruth Street of Wichita, Kan.; 19 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, a great-granddaughter; two sisters and a brother.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today (June 21, 2007) at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.  The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Keith Parris officiating.  Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery.


HURST, TX - WILLIE DOYLE PITTS, SR., 77, a retired Tarrant County employee, died Sunday at a local hospital.
Funeral: 10 a.m. today at Friendship Baptist Church. Burial: Moore Memorial Gardens.
Willie Doyle Pitts Sr. was born Feb. 6, 1919, in Stone County, Ark. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bettie Lou Pitts.
Survivors: Sons, Doyle Pitts Jr. of North Richland Hills, Andrew Pitts and Don Pitts, both of Cleburne, and Wesley Pitts of Hurst; daughters, Bettie Clarine Pitts of Fort Worth and Teresa Vaida and Belinda Whitten, both of Hurst; sister, Wanda Fletcher of Hurst; 18 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

WILLIAM O. SULLIVAN, 79, rural Harrisonville, died March 24, 1992, in Research Medical Center. He was born in Stone County, Ark., and lived in Wynne, Ark., and Sikeston, Mo., before moving to Excelisor Springs in 1968. He moved to the Harrisonville area in 1988. Mr. Sullivan was a farmer until 1968 and worked in the shipping department at Avsco Inc. in Excelsior Springs from 1969 until he retired in 1976.
Survivors include three sons, Retired Army Maj. Wilford O. Sullivan, Bothell, Wash., Travis D. Sullivan, Hesperia, Calif., and Carl E. Sullivan, Excelsior Springs; two daughters, Anita L. Gillespie, Bothell, and Serethenee Loretta Filer, Harrisonville; a sister, Edna Teague, Lawson in Ray County; a half sister, Audie Ivy, Turrel, Ark.; seven grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Dickey Chapel, Harrisonville; graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Lawson Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society.

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX - OPAL THOMPSON, a retired dietitian, died Saturday at a Grand Prairie hospital after a short illness. She was 84.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Camden Memorial Park in Camden, Ark.
Mrs. Thompson was born in Stone County, Ark., and had lived in Grand Prairie for 10 years.
She worked for Plattner Clinic before her retirement. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in East Camden.She was the widow of Clarence Thompson, who died in 1983.
Survivors: Three sons, Billy Wayne Thompson of Seagoville, Jimmy F. Thompson of Duncanville and Charles F. Thompson of Arlington; two stepsons, Harold C. Thompson of East Camden and Leonard Thompson of Arlington; daughter, Mary Annetta Wallace of Grand Prairie; two stepdaughters, Medrith Mae Lance of Kennett, Mo., and Lois M. Ward of Sims, Ill.; 26 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

MOUNT STERLING, IL -- EARL TRAMMELL,, 89, of rural Mount Sterling, formerly of Arkansas, Kentucky and Mississippi, died at 9:56 p.m. Saturday, May 27, 1995, at his residence.
He was born July 9, 1905, in Stone County, Ark., to Tom and Frances Branscum Trammell.
Surviving are one brother, Hollie of Mount Sterling; three sisters, Harriet Hayes of San Diego, Mae Edmonson of Wenatchee, Wash., and Fae Baughman of Gresham, Ore.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great- great-nephews. One brother and one sister preceded him in death.
He was a retired farmer and timber worker.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hufnagel Funeral Home in Mount Sterling. The Rev. Steve Rutter will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 tonight and two hours before services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Benville Cemetery in Benville.
