JONES, JAMES ELMER
James Elmer Jones, a resident of the Yuba-Sutter area for 50
years, passed away on
January 23, 2008 at The
Rideout Memorial Hospital in Marysville, Calif. He was 83
years old. James was born November 2, 1924 in Chico, Calif.
James was a graduate of Chico High School, Class of 1942 and a
graduate of the
Colorado School of Mines. He served in
World War II in
the U.S. Army from Feb. 1943 to Jan. 1946. James is the retired
owner of Ralph's Glass Service of Marysville where he worked for 20
years, and a Dredger for
Gold Mining Companies
in South America. He worked in the mining industry for 35 years.
James is survived by his wife of 42 years,
LaVerne Jones of
Yuba City, Calif.;
son, Stewart Cherry of Modesto, Calif.; daughters,
Kim Whitley of
Auburn, Calif. and Charlotte Murphy of Yuba City, Calif.; a sister,
Ruby Flock of
Homedale, Idaho; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson. He
was preceded in death by his son, James A. Jones and his sister,
Muda Hooper.
Memorial Services will be held at the
Ullrey Memorial
Chapel at
817 Almond St., Yuba City, CA on Friday, April 4, 2008 at
11:00 a.m. Private Inurnment will take place at Sutter Cemetery in

WIESNER,
AMY ELIZABETH Amy Elizabeth Wiesner was born in Dover, Ark. on Nov. 22, 1915 to Amos and Maude Bullock. She passed away May 20, 2006. Graveside services are being held for Amy Elizabeth (Bullock) Wiesner, 90, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oroville, Calif. She will be buried alongside her husband, Curtis W. Wiesner, who preceded her in death in 1998. visitation will be at 9 a.m., Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at Oroville Funeral Home in Oroville, Calif. Amy led a blessed life and was loved by her family and many friends. Amy was a homemaker who worked hard to give her family a loving and secure home. At times she would work at additional pursuits, such as real estate and sales. She was multi-talented in that she became an accomplished carpenter and painter working beside her husband, Curtis, in building various homes for their family during their 65 years of marriage. Among her many hobbies she loved to garden and specialized in raising iris's and roses. When her husband became a Deputy Sheriff in Downieville, in Sierra County, she became a deputy matron in order to assist on ambulance runs or when a female suspect was being arrested. In 1983 she and her husband moved to Forbestown in order to be near the Mount Hope Bible Conference Grounds, where Curtis was on the board of directors and Amy provided nursing care and cooking duties. After her husbands death, Amy sold her home in Forbestown and moved to Chico. Survivors include her daughter and husband, Nadine and Fred Rawlins of Chico; her sons and their wives, Gene and Barbara Wiesner of Rancho Tehama; Bill and Ardella Wiesner of Etters, Pa; her sister Jonnie Russell of Carlsbad, Calif.; 11 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions can be made to American Cancer Society or Mount Hope Bible Conference Grounds. Funeral services are being conducted by Oroville Funeral Home, of Oroville, Calif.
