Located on the Point Loma peninsula. The area became the Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in 1934. In 1973 became part of the Veterans Administration National Cemetery System. The cemetery made California registered historical landmark (#55) in 1932. The cemetery is closed to new casket burials but can still accept cremated remains |

Vallecito Stage Station Cemetery, San Diego County, CA
History: Vallecito Stage Staion is a Historic Landmark (# 304)1852 the house was
built
by James R. Lassater as a stopping place for those making the long journey to
southern
California, 1857 the house became a station on the San Diego-San Antonio mail
route, in
1858 the house became a stop on the Butterfield Overland Mail Route. The current
building
(built 1934) is a replica of the original.
