  Deviled Crabs    

Deviled Crabs-Pick the meat from boiled crabs taking care not to break the shells. Flake the meat and mix with it two heaping tablespoonfuls melted butter salt pepper and red pepper to taste teaspoon of lemon juice and one tablespoonful of white sauce(?) Return to shells, sprinkle with bread crumbs and pieces of butter and bake. (September 26, 1909 Colorado Springs Gazette, Colorado Springs Colorado)
