Founded February 19, 1889 Took its name from Fort Morgan. The original fort was in existence from 1865-1868. It was established as a protection post against the Indians and was originally called "Junction" or "Camp Wardell". In 1866 the post became known as Fort Morgan in memory of Colonel Christopher A.
