An original county, Hartford county was established May 10, 1666
The City of Hartford was at one time the county seat.  Since 1960, CT does not have county-level government

When established in 1666, Hartford County consisted of the towns of Windsor, Wethersfield, Hartford, Farmington, and Middletown
