Torp] THOMAS, JOSEPH A Good Citizen Gone Mr. Joseph Thomas died at his home in Starke Thursday morning, March 29th, of cancer, at the age of 70 years. The deceased was a native of Nova Scotia, but moved in early life to Quincy, Mass. where he lived until 1877, when he moved to Florida and settled here. Since that time he had been a constant resident of Starke and his exemplary life hail won for him a high place in the confidence and esteem of his fellow-citizens. His death causes profound sorrow throughout the community. Mr. Thomas was a consecrated Christian, his every act in life denoting him a true follower of the precepts of the blessed Nazarene.and his wise counsel will be greatly missed by the First Baptist church of this city, of which he was one of the oldest and most active members. The death of such a man as Mr. Thomas is a distinct and irreparable loss to the community, and the sorrow of our citizens generally is mingled with that of his bereaved wife, daughter and other relatives. The funeral services will be conducted from the First Baptist church this morning at 10 o'clock and the interment will be in Crosby cemetery. [The Bradford County Telegraph, 3/30/1900.
