Sloan 78, of 523 Washington St. Arcadia, Fl, passed away at his own home Sunday moring, August 5th, 1984 , following a prolonged illness. He was born in Ft. Odgen , Fl and was a lifelong resident of DeSoto. He was a retired merchant and a member of the Ft. Odgen United Methodist Church. Survivors are his wife Mrs. Diana L. Sloan of Arcadia; one son Larry G. Sloan of Arcadia; one daughter Mrs. Peggy Abbott of Lakeland; one sister Mrs. Onie Sherouse of Ft. Myers and Franklin, NC, 3 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday August 7th, 1984 at 3:00 p.m. from the Ft. Odgen United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clair Wilcoxon officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Mrs. Bullard was born December 6, 1922 in Gardner, FL. She married Dennis Bullard on November 6, 1941 in Arcadia, FL She was a sales clerk at a discount store and a resident of Bellevue for sixty-two years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bellevue, TX. Funeral services for Mrs. Bullard were held Sunday, May 23, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fry Funeral Home Chapel in Bowie, TX with Rev. Robert Slayton officiating. Interment was at the Vashti Cemetery under the directions of Fry Funeral Home. Surviving relatives include: one daughter, Sharon Webb and her husband, Charles, Bellevue, TX; two grandchildren, Casey and Amanda Webb, both of Bowie, TX; two great grandchildren, Tristan Young and Hunter Webb, both of Bowie, TX; one brother, David Jones, Arcadia, FL; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Bullard; and one son, Edward Bullard. Memorial contributions may be made to the Vashiti Cemetery Association, 4400 FM 1288 South, Bellevue, TX, 76228. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a rural U.S. mail carrier. He was a deacon and a member of Arcadia First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mattie; two daughters, Mary M. Brown of Arcadia and Lillie J. Schwarz of Sharpsburg, Ga.; three sons, Danny of Winston-Salem, N.C., Sammy of Sharpsburg and Tommy of Lehigh Acres; a sister, Joyce Dozier of Arcadia; a brother, Tommy of Ponca City, Okla.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Arcadia First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery. He had been a manager for Elliott Key Park in Dade County. He was a Protestant. Survivors include his wife, Thelma; a daughter, Janet Sherouse of Ocala; a stepdaughter, Darlene Rose of Fort Myers; a stepson, Robert Rose of Bristol, Ind.; a sister, Edith Lyon of New Port Richey; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. "Pete" Walker, 72, Arcadia, died Feb. 27, 2004. He was born Oct. 23, 1931, in Nocatee and was a lifelong resident of DeSoto County. He graduated from Pan American Business University in Miami. He was a sergeant in the Army airborne. He was a retired citrus inspector for the state of Florida. He was past president of the Arcadia Rodeo Association, a member of Elks Lodge 1524, and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Arcadia. He attended Oak Hill Baptist Church in Arcadia. Survivors include a daughter, Lynn of Arcadia; a son, Glenn D. Walker of Arcadia; a brother, Carlos of Arcadia; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Ponger-Kays- Grady Funeral Home in Arcadia, with an Elks service conducted at 7 p.m. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Joshua Creek Cemetery in Arcadia, with military honors provided by the DeSoto County Veteran's Honor Guard.
