History and Information

Aripeka was named after the Aripeka Saw Mills Corporation, which itself was named after an early-19th century Seminole chief. The town was divided when Pasco County separated from Hernando County in 1887. The post office which was originally in Hernando County, moved across the Pasco
County Line in 1921. According to the Pasco County Historical Preservation Committee, Babe Ruth was once a resident of Aripeka

Masaryktown was founded in 1926 by Domonic Voscinar and named after Tomás Garrigue Masaryk, the first President and founder of Czechoslovakia.
Although Spring Hill was founded in 1962 as a planned community that was built by the Deltona Corporation of Florida, it appeared on maps of Florida as early as 1856. It has since become
a sprawling semi-city in its own right, though still has unincorporated areas. The main entrance to the original development is marked by the Spring Hill waterfall. Local attractions include many parks, Weeki Wachee Springs, and access to Hernando Beach to the west, Brooksville, Florida to the east, and Tampa to the south via the Suncoast Parkway, US 41, and I-75.

Weeki Wachee Springs Tourist Attraction
Weeki Wachee Springs, the spring of the Weeki Wachee River, is a Florida tourist attraction where underwater performances by mermaids, women dressed with fins about their legs as well as other fancy outfits, can be viewed in an aquarium-like setting. A Water park, Buccaneer Bay,animal shows, and boat rides are also part of the attraction. Deepest Naturally Formed Spring in the United States. From May 22 until August 30 of 2007, the discharge level at Weeki Wachee spring dropped to a level that
allowed for cave divers to gain effective entry into the cave system at the spring. The Karst Underwater Research team successfully executed exploration dives and the necessary in-water decompression to explore approximately 6,700 feet in multiple passages at an average depth of 265 Feet Fresh Water with a maximum depth of 407. There are currently 15 female, mermaid performers and 4 male performers.
