Tampa Tribune - May 1968

Mrs. Gussie M. Smith, 6612 11th St., died Monday. A native and life long resident of Tampa, she was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She is survived by her husband, William B. Smith; a daughter, Helen Beheler, Tampa; and a sister, Mrs. Minnie Gearheart, Tampa.

Tampa Tribune, Florida - September 29, 1919

Hugh W. Mills, seventy-eight years old, a Confederate veteran, died late last night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Poulson, of No. 102 Pierce street. Besides Mrs. Poulson, Mr. Mills is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Earl Kennedy, who lives in the Philippines; a son, T. M. Mills, of Tampa, and two brothers, J. T. Mills and Fayette Mills, of Atlanta. Undertaker J. I. Reed is in charge of the funeral arrangements, which will be announced later.

Hugh Washington Mills was found to be buried in an unmarked grave in Woodlawn Cemetery, Tam Inman obtained a military headstone and military ceremony including the Sons of the Confederacy and the Black Roses. The following is a link to the ceremony video on YouTube: Confederate Ceremony
