FATAL CRASH: Two North Fort Myers residents died in a head-on collision late Friday on Bayshore Road near the Lee
Civic Center, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.
James M. Guffey, 21, 15571 Hart Road, was driving his Chevrolet
pickup westbound on Bayshore just east of Tallulah Falls Road when he
crossed the center line a at a curve and struck a Honda driven by Holly
Austin, 26, 18360 Old Bayshore Road, the FHP said. Both drivers
were pronounced dead at the scene, the FHP said. It was not immediately
determined whether alcohol was a factor in the crash or how fast the
vehicles were traveling, according to FHP Trooper Jeff Rongish. Read
