The citizens of Savannah having, by a decided majority,
at a recent meeting held under a call addressed to the citizens generally, expressed their dissent to any act censuring
the administration of the General Government, for having removed the public deposites from the Bank of the United
states, or seeking the restoration of them to that institution; and the association which denominates itself the
States’ Rights Association of Chatham county having invited a meeting for the purpose of obtaining the expression
of a counter sentiment, we, the subscribers, inhabitants and citizens of said county, deem it proper to make known
to the constituted authorities of the country, our opinion that it is inexpedient to restore the public deposites
to the Bank of the United States.
