McCLURE'S OF MURRAY COUNTY, GA.
Col. Joseph McClure, born near Raleigh, NC., July 16, 1810, married Patience McLain, on October 29, 1835 on a farm that is the present site of Birmingham, AL. He commanded a regiment in the Mexican War and died in Fayette County, AL. November 2, 1855. He left five children:
Martha A., born in Murray County, January 23, 1837, married J. J. Spain, April 23, 1855 and now lives with her family near Alto, Texas.
Thomas M., born in Murray County, September 14, 1840, lives near Alto, Texas and is the father of Reverend J. T. McClure of Dallas, Texas.
Columbus C., born in Murray County, August 9th, 18??, and died in Winchester, VA., February 9th, 1862. A marble slab shows his grave in the northeast corner of a cemetery there as a Confederate soldier.
Aldophus B., born in Fayette County, AL., February 25, 1848, and now lives at Aztec, N.M., interested in real estate
