James Brummitt

James Emerson Brummitt, age 83 of Lenoir City, TN passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at his home surrounded by his family. 

He was born February 26, 1923 to Oscar and Molly Brummitt. James had been a resident of Loudon County for 83 years. He married Ada B. Greene on June 25, 1948 in Chatsworth, Georgia. 

James was a member of the Laborers Unions Local for over 50 years. He was preceded in death by: parents, Oscar and Mollie Brummitt; brothers, Charles, Clifford, Johnny and Ted Brummitt; sister, Edna Greene. 

Survived by: his wife of 58 years, Ada Brummitt; son, James Boyd, son and daughter-in-law, David and Karen Brummitt; daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Joe Jenkins; grandchildren, Lauren Brummitt and Jeremy Jenkins; great granddaughter, Kaylen McAcy; brothers, Gary, Tony, Tommy and Perry Ray Brummitt; sister, Clara Gardner; along with many nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hawkins Chapel, 102 B Street. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Hawkins Chapel with Rev. Frankie Parris officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakeview Cemetery. Hawkins Chapel, Lenoir City is serving the family of James Emerson Brummitt.
