John E. Broome

October 23, 1949 - February 1, 2006

Mr. John E. Broome "Stoney", 56, of 521 Hwy. 225 South, Chatsworth, Ga., died Wednesday, Feb. 1 at his residence. 

Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Saturday at Garner Chapel C.M.E. Church in Phenix City, Ala., with Pastor Johnnie Nelms officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, according to Taylor Funeral Home, Phenix City, Ala. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home. 

Mr. Broome was born Oct. 23, 1949 in Franklin, Ga., the son of the late May Bell Broome and John Broome.

 He was a textile mill employee and a member of Garner Chapel C.M.E. Church, Phenix City. 

Survivors left to cherish his memories include a brother, Earl (Irean) Broome of Dalton, Ga.; four sisters, Rosetta (Jimmy) Moses of LaGrange, Ga., Annie Pearl (Rev. JT) Threatts, Ophelia (Thomas) Horton and Barbara Broome, all of Phenix City; three aunts, Mary Katherine Broome of LaGrange, Mae Sue Milton of Atlanta, Ga., and Ruth Broome of Dalton, Ga.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. In addition, he is survived by a very special, loving and devoted couple, Ron and Tammy Phillips.
