Lois McLain Beal Lois McLain Beal, age 94 of Knoxville passed away Wednesday February 18, 2004 at Farragut Health Care. Born in Murray County, Georgia, she moved with her parents and two sisters to Knoxville, Tennessee in her early life. After graduating from Old Knoxville High School and Knoxville Business College, she was a bookkeeper at Vestal Lumber Company and Carnel Manufacturing Company. She and Fred Beal were married from June 6, 1931 until his death in 1990. After the birth of her sons, she devoted her time to her family, support of the public schools and her church. A member of Riverview Baptist Church for 60 years, she assisted her husband as the church treasurer there for many years. Also becoming active, along with her husband in the Order of the Eastern Star, she became Worthy Matron of the Shekinah Chapter #456 in 1983. Except for a residency at Fort Sheridan, Illinois during World War II, she enjoyed her life in East Tennessee in addition to brief opportunities to travel to other parts of North America and Europe. The widow of Frederick L. Beal, Sr., she is survived by two sons: Frederick L. Beal, Jr., Arnold J. (A.J.) Beal, daughter-in-law; Annabelle S. Beal, granddaughter; Samantha K. Beal, one sister; Rowena Webb and several brothers & sisters-in-law, nieces & nephews. Special thanks are also due to those who cared for Lois at Arbor Terrace Assisted Living, Farragut Health Care Center and Adventa Hospice. Funeral service 1:00 P.M. Saturday, Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel with Dr. Jerry Seale officiating. Interment Lynnhurst Cemetery.
