John T. Hand

John T. Hand, 67, of 1321 June St. died Friday, May 31, 1996, at Kewanee Hospital.

Born Nov. 8, 1928, in Kewanee to Edward and Dorothy Lampson Hand, he married Bettie Whetstone on Sept. 24, 1954, in Chatsworth, Ga. She survives.

Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Frank (Mary) Urquiza of Kewanee and Edith of Nebraska; and two brothers, Eddy K. and Noel, both of Kewanee. Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

He was a master bricklayer in the Kewanee area for more than 30 years. He then was an independent insurance agent in Kewanee.

He was president of the Henry County Humane Society and was head of the Kewanee Animal Shelter.

A Korean War Army veteran, he was a member of Woodhull American Legion, Flemish American Club of Kewanee and Allendale Conservation Club.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Cavanagh & Schueneman Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens, where military rites will be conducted by the Kewanee Veterans Council.
